As the title suggests, anyone done either of these tours?? Never done any tours myself and just wondered what they were like as I came across them purely by accident when on Disney site looking for something else. Thanks! :)

We've done the Behind the Seeds Tour and loved it. We do love living with the land and wanted an opportunity to walk through it. It was fun and educational. We also did one at Magic Kingdom but don't remember what it was called ,but it was for the family. It was more of an adventure, looking through the park for a missing item. That was fun, but best with younger children.

I haven't done the Family Magic tour (read lots of reviews though) but have done Behind The Seeds. With a child, Family magic would win out every time. If it were just adults and you have an interesting in the gardening/horticultural aspect of things, then Behind The Seeds is an enjoyable and reasonably priced tour.

If adults only, there are many more to consider that would be preferable to Behind The Seeds, in my opinion.

Oooh, might have a chat with mum then and see if she fancies doing the Family Fun Tour at MK then (it's the one where you try and find a missing item using clues all round the park) as I'm thinking DS might REALLY enjoy that. Thanks! :)

I think that tour lasts about 2 hours. Is it not better to do it on your longer trip when you have more time to spare? Your partner (or did you get married? Wasn't sure as you were referring to him as DH) may enjoy spending that time with you and your son :)

While I do think that your DS might enjoy the tour (although it's difficult without knowing what his issues actually are and what he might have difficulty with), didn't you say yesterday that you will only have 1 day at Magic Kingdom?. Since it is likely to be difficult to get much done with an autistic child anyway, I would imagine, I don't know that I would take over 2 hours out of my day to do a tour which only includes one ride (Peter Pan, I believe). It is a lot of touring time to miss out on.

Why not save the tour for your family trip later in the year?

Since you mentioned that you were looking to do something nice for your Mum, why not pay for her to do the Behind the Seeds tour as a thanks for looking after your son while you ride some of your thrill rides at Sea World :goodvibes It is a tour that would be enjoyable to do on your own, since it is guided.

I never thought of that... mum might like Behind The Seeds as she is really into her garden. The family fun tour sounded a bit if a treasure hunt type which my DS would probably LOVE but I get what you're saying that it is 2 hrs which, in Disney time, is quite a lot of playtime to miss out on. Just thought it was something different we would never usually do on hol. As I say, it was only an idea coz I stumbled upon the page by accident. I was trying to find out when the Food Festival at Epcot ran til as we don't want to be caught out by turning up to Epcot on a wkend during that time and it being even more crowded than usual :)

My kids love WDW but have always said that if we took them on the Behind the Seeds Tour they would know that we didn't want to take them with us anymore! I like gardening and would enjoy it but even though they are older teens now I know they would hate every minute.

Food and Wine Festival this year is from September 19-November 10.

If you go in prepared for it being busy you'll be okay. October has become a very popular month to visit and many of the US schools are now getting a break in October which only seems to be pushing attendance levels up at WDW. As long as you are expecting it, it won't be a problem.

Yeh, we were there 1st wk of Oct last time but there was only Epcot on the weekend that was a LOT worse than we thought it would be (we quickly left it for another day as we were there for 14 nts last time) and MNSSHP was REALLY busy on the night we went. I seem to remember someone saying at the time that it had been a sell out the night we went but I think that's just "luck of the draw" so to speak. I'm just basing my expectations around what we encountered last time we were there :)

If you look on you tube, a couple who do excellent disney vlogs have an episode where they do the behind the seeds tour. They are called seeyareelsoon.

The family magic tour is amazing we did it on our last trip in February. Our cast member tour guide was awesome and has now become a family friend. It is a lot of walking. You literally spend 2 and a bit hours walking round the entire park. You do get to jump the queue on a ride during the tour and meet characters (we met 2 but I know some have met more)

Why not do it on your July trip then, when you have 2 weeks :thumbsup2

That makes so much more sense to me. I think one of the things most of us did on our first trip was try to squeeze too much in.

Unless your Mum really wants to do it and you're doing it for her. She's not there in July if I remember correctly so I do get that. I know she's really not keen on this trip either so if it's for her I see why you would want to make the effort, but if not, I agree with Joh - do it when you have more time :goodvibes

Mum likes insightful things and is one of those spritely folks who randomly say things like "come on, lets go for a walk" when it's pitch black and teeming down just because she fancies some adventure or will want to go for a spontaneous picnic in summer when we pick Dylan up from school so I can see the family magic tour being something she'd love. She even still tries climbing trees at 63! Lol! :)

She sounds like fun!!

So howcome she isn't really keen on Disney?

I don't think it's so much that she doesn't like Disney (she LOVES Disney movies) but I think it's that she's worried she'll get there and it won't quite live up to the dream she has of Disney if that makes sense?? Her only experience of theme park type places is Blackpool and Southport so our first port of call when we get to MK is Prince Charming's Regal Carousel. I think she'll go on there and become a young girl again in her head (I know I did) and she can't really get her head round Epcot and AK although she says she's looking forward to going there more than she is MK.
