Behind the Scenes tour

I did this last year with my family in January... Seaworld had a buy one get one free on the admission. I thought it was really fun. They take you into the back and we got to see "Dundee" the rescue boat they use that has been on Sea Rescue. In that same area are the rehabilitation tanks where they have manatees, turtles, and sometimes dolphins. We then boarded a bus and it took us to to where the shark area was and we got to touch a small shark in a tank they had in the back. You get back on the bus and they drive you around in the back area and point out what each building is and their purpose. The finished up taking you into a room where they have penguins (The little black and white ones) and you get to touch one and have your picture taken with it. It was really worth it if you've never done it before.

We did it in December. We earned the tour free for being passholders & going to Spooktacular a certain number of times this year. I thought it would be way above my 3 1/2 yr old's head but she was fine and actually learned something because she was playing with her toy turtles in the bathtub that night & telling me all about how they were hurt and what was wrong with their shells, something we'd seen & learned about on the tour. We go to Sea World all the time though so to me it was something different to do. I don't know that I'd do it if I didn't live locally and was just doing 1-2 days at Sea World as part of a vacation. I also don't think I'd do it in hot weather since you are out in the sun a lot on this tour. My favorite parts were getting to touch the shark and penguin. There were 2 other kids on the tour in addition to my 3 1/2 year old. One was 6 and the other was probably around 8 or 9. While my 3 1/2 year old & the 6 year old didn't necessarily listen to everything it moved fast enough that they weren't acting up/disturbing others & they did listen to parts of it & enjoyed touching the animals. Our guide was very nice, great with the kids, & happy to take pictures for me while I assisted my daughter touching the shark & penguin & touched them myself.

Behind the Scenes tour is amazing. The amount of information you walk away with is so great. You not only learn about how the rescue programs work at SeaWorld and what they all do you get to see some amazing animals up-close. You have a great educator with you who knows what they are talking about. And of course getting to touch the penguins and baby shark is so cool. Not many people can say they did that. You will truly love it
