Hi, my hubby and i are planning a trip to disney but want to go when its less crowded. When in Feb do you think its best to go?? any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

I went the first week in February last year and barely managed to escape the Superbowl crowd. It was a bit cold but I would avoid later in February because of Valentine's Day.

Lots of elementary schools have vacation in Feb.

A lot of schools in the northeast have an entire week off in February for winter break. The crowds are usually fairly heavy during the school break periods. For us that week is the week of February 14. The beginning of January is superbowl and since the superbowl is in Miami and parks may be slightly more crowded before and after the superbowl - i.e. people trying to tag on a Disney trip to their superbowl trip.

The Superbowl is in February, which I think you meant to put. I didn't know schools in the northeast had a winter break in February. Good to know for future Disney plans.

Don't forget Mardi Gras too. It is in Feb and LA has the week off. We went in 08 and all you saw was mardi gras beads and purple, green and gold! I think that was around the first part of Feb. It was a very busy time.

The schools that have vacations usually schedule it so it is during the week with the Presidents day holiday. I also know that the teaching colleges here have the same vacation schedule.

I would avoid planning a vacation that involves any time around Valentine's/President's Day weekend and after. The holiday weekend was towards the end of our vacation last year, but still caused heartburn. Later in the month, Winter/Spring Break crowds start trickling in. We're going the first week in Feb this year in order to avoid any irritation of the we had last year.

I've heard that the early week before President's day week is not very busy. But, that could be different if the super bowl keeps being played later in the month. Pretty much if you avoid President's Day week, it shouldn't be too crowded.

We stayed at POP Feb 2008, for 7 days. Booked the week after Val Day, thinking we'd miss the crowds. We were wrong. I was there with a previous poster it seems, the week LA had the week off for Mardi Gras. POP was FULL of LA residents. I have nothing against LA, mind you. But, it made not only the hotel busy but the parks busy for the entire week also. I went the exact same week in 2006 with my mother and it was very dead during the week (great for us!), but the weekends were busy. This year me and my DH decided to plan Jan 30-Feb 7 (yep! 8 nts!!) and hoped for it to be slow, but now I hear about this Superbowl crowd possibly being at WDW that week. I'm a little scared. I didn't even know Superbowl was in FL until yesterday! (DH and I are not sports fans, nor do we pay any mind to the seasons and big games, etc ... obviously!!). I think that covers a response to the original post. But, now I have a question... how busy does WDW get during Superbowl week???

What about the last full week of Feb... 2/21 - 27? Is there any reason, other than the last weekend (ESPN weekend) for that week to be busy?

You are probably better off the last week of feb. We get 2 days off for Presidents Day in Indiana this year, and that's smack in the middle of Feb. The first week you will get some post-superbowl crowds. I think the last full week of feb is your best bet.
