for those that have been long time members here, you know I never, ever post rumors. If I am not sure, I don't post.

Many of you will remember all the heated threads about dining credits and the use of children's credits to buy adult meals. For months I said, Disney will change this and they did.

The same source is saying that this only affects DDE, and parties of 6 or more. The confusion stems from the fact that DDE sent out this email which is not very clear, but actually what is causing the problem is with all things Disney, different departments having no idea what the other is doing. You have Food and Beverage, you have Disney Dining and Guest relations and no one is on the same page.

Believe me, time will tell and you will see that this is only going to affect the DDE and parties of 6 or more. Unless of course Food and Beverage decides after today, to change it again.

But as of today, it is only DDE and parties of 6. :thumbsup2
you seem to agree with what i posted on page 7

When a disney CM phoned me acouple of months ago regarding the 18% gratuity for next year i was told:-
1.if on the DDP/DDDP everyone from 1 person up will have to pay a 18% gratuity on the full value of the meal
2.if on the DDP and want an appitizer you will have to pay cash for it plus the added 18% gratuity
3.partys of 6 or more paying cash will have to pay an added 18% on the full price of meal
4.If using the DDE card an 18% gratuity will be added to the full bill before any discount aplyied
5.partys of 1 to 5 paying cash for a meal can tip what they want
This was in responce to an email i sent them regarding the removal off appitizer and tip from ddp next year
Looks to me they have changed number 5 to inline with rest
Guess we will be eating more ofsite rather than poor service TS onsite
Have yet to here if they are adding 18% to CS meals but thats a bit rich if they do

think i will sit back wait for jan 1st for everthing to be confermed

People lets me nice about this. The problem is Disney has over 65,000 employees, there are going to be times when things get confused. Food and Beverage was not even aware that DDE was sending out the email and until it was posted on the Net forums had not even read it.

They are now aware that it is misleading and the food and beverage communications team will straighten it out.

In a day or so, the information will be correct. Until them all I can say is time will tell.

I will be watching this over the next few weeks. However if it turns out to be across the board I will be dropping my DDP. I will NOT be forced to tip! I might switch back to offsite as well. They have till Dec18th if i dont know by then i will cancel my reservations.

Had they just increased the cost of the DDP and left gartuity on it I would not have an issue. I feel this is pretty sneaky and underhanded.

Me too, stated as a Walt Disney World Resort policy not a DDE policy.

I'm still reading it as applying only to DDE at this point, since the DDP has its own wording about when a gratuity is or isn't automatic. At least that's my hope, because IME, automatic tips lead some servers to slack off, especially some place like Disney where few people are inclined to waste their vacation time trying to track down a manager to complain.

Yes, but did you TIP him? And if so, how much? Was it mandatory or implied in any way? Will he stop at McDonald's? Or better yet KFC?

I didnt tip, but I flirted a LOT. We didnt make it to KFC...as you saw.

Does it really matter at this point what the policy will be? If you don't like it, eat elsewhere.

The issue that I don't like is that another freedom will be taken away. The freedom to decide for myself how much to tip someone for their exceptional service. The servers who were exceptional would be idiots to bust their butts for a few percent additional tip if anyone would gave it to them.

We eat at the restaurants on property a lot. In the last couple of years IMO the service for the most part has gotten worse. It seems that so many more people are eating, that the emphasis is on pushing people through to make room for more people. They don't have time to make the experience special. Their tips have probably decreased and this is the way to push people through and still make a tip.

Wow! Glad I saw this thread. I was going to start another one (we just got the now-famous e-mail!) :rotfl2:

Good service or not, once again, Disney is making their own standard for dining on their property. I am appalled by their "gutsiness". Yes, the bottom line is the $$$, and servers should be tipped appropriately at the discrection of the diner, but never should the diner be told what to pay.

I too think that the dining has become more standardized across the parks. The quality is not what it should be, and the prices are continuing to climb... with more and more buffets and one-price dining. No longer can you come in just for dessert, or a bowl of soup... We have continued to dine on property for the themed restaurants. We love the extra touches you only find inside a WDW restaurant. But we've continued to see the CMs overworked with too many tables to wait on, and as a result the service suffers. We've always tipped above the standard. But to be told we have to is an insult to us and to the server. WIll the adjustment of 18% be on tax too? With FL rates, and a big party, that will be enough for another dinner! :rotfl:

It will be good to hear/see the final policy after all the dust settles. I'm sure we still won't be happy.

WOW how confusing is this??? I like most here will wait for a official letter from WDW. If they do this then my March trip will be not on the DDP. I will remove it at once. No fighting I just feel I have the right to decide how much tip to give based on service. NOT FORCED to give the tip.

Waiting for official letter from WDW.:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

I'm not tipping or flirting unless my meal comes in a red-and-white bucket. And he'll have to wait til we get to Cancun to get paid, I'll have to make sure I have enough left over from my chicken change.

Is KFC on the DDP?

Well said!!! :thumbsup2

Sad, but true. :sad2:

Sorry to say that Allears is wrong this time. It is only DDE and parties of 6 or more.

you will see they say "reportedly," Believe me I would not say otherwise if not true.

The e-mail I received said "regardless of party size".
