Beginners exercise videos

Hi all....I joined WW and WISH a little over a week ago..so far I've lost 5 pounds(officially) and want to start the exercise portion. What are your favorite videos/dvds for beginners?? I really need to learn to stretch again and just start with the exercise motions. I have the Taibo(sp?) tapes but that's a little too difficult at the moment. I'm at 249pds right now if that helps you.

my best ever advice is hit your local library! try before you buy! my library has a website and they are connected to other surrounding libraries so I can reserve from the branches and they come to my town. rarely do I reserve any from my branch so don't limit your scope of possibilities

How about Walk Away the Pounds (WATP) start with a one mile and see how it is for you? they are great videos, easy on the bod yet work the major muscles.

I find that Denise Austin videos are very explainative, is that a word? anyhow, her moves maybe more intermediate level, but she does a great job explaining, maybe one of her yoga workouts?

stay away from Kathy Smith and FIRM videos if you are just starting.

That's where I started. It was maybe a week or two before I graduated to the 2 mile. Now, I alternate between the 2 and 3 mile tapes. I have the 4 mile tape as well and, it's calling my name...............Someday. ;)

I bought my 1st tape at Target and, the rest, I've bought on Ebay or at half.com
 
I've heard pretty good things about
"Denise Austin - Shrink Your Female Fat Zones"

She talks a lot during her videos though. You have been warned :)

There are also low impact senior citizen videos as well that are geared more toward stretching.

I started out with Pilates for Every Body from Denise Austin and it was perfect for just starting out. It works your abs very well, and makes the rest of your body feel nice and stretched.

I also agree with WATP 1 mile tape. i bought it and used it for 7 weeks b4 graduating to The Firm and still used it for the first couple of weeks as i got myself started on those tapes. It does well as a starting cardio tape with a little bit of weight work in it.

Personally, I left WATP behind though because Leslie really isn't my idea of a good videotape instructor. But I am glad i started with her. Was good initiation and preparation for The Firm tapes.

Thanks to everyone! I bought the 1 and 2 mile WATP dvd today. Hoping to start using it tomorrow morning :) :)
 
They are a great place to start! I can pretty easily do teh one mile with weights...but the 2 mile kicks my butt!! Hope you enjoy your workout! Can't wait to hear what you think about the tapes!! Way to go on your weight loss! You go girl!!! Onward and downward!!!!
