Heh everyone, I posted this question on the main forum and some people told me to ask this question here to get some great articles or protocals for marathon. I've done the Disney half marathon the past two years. Does any one have any articles or protocals on beginner Marathon training? Thanks everyone.

I have lots of reports and photos on my website regarding training/racing the WDW Marathon.

Are you walking, running or a combination of both?

Congratulations on your half marathons! It sounds like you have a solid base to begin your marathon training. You are also getting an early start which will be a huge helpas you get into the serious training next fall.

Hal Higdon has some training plans that are free and easy to access on the internet. I have used his intermediate plans as the base for my training the past two years. But I also agree that you should Read Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham.

Good Luck!

mickeyncldkd, good for you!!! I'm glad you came to check this side out. There's a sticky at the top of this forum with lots of information you might find helpful. There's a link to a bunch of websites others here have used, nutrition links, and links to Disney marathon FAQs. Join in on the weekly thread and ask any questions, someone will try and find an answer for you!

Congratulations on your new goal! :cheer2:

I am doing whatever to finish the Marathon. I am hoping to run the whole thing. What about you Panada

Wow, running the whole thing is pretty ambitious. You have a good goal.

Panda is a competitive walker. He can walk faster than some can run.

The Hal Higdon plan is pretty aggressive and can get you running if you are in decent shape. I'd recommend that one for you then. I follow John Bingham's plan b/c I'm a slow, back of the pack party person and the Bingham plan is easier on my system.

Stop by the library or go to the bookstore and browse some books on the subject. Plans may vary some, but they do follow the same basic foundation.

Join in on the weekly thread or any of the smaller teams. You can post any of the training questions you may have along the way. It will be fun to post and get to know some of the team. This makes the entire experience much more fun. Best WISHes as you train. Let us know how you are doing.

Is John Bingham's training in his book? I have it on order. but I just saw you could by the training schedule costs 40$ on his website. I was just curious if it was in the book. Thanks
