Before or after Thanksgiving?

My wife and I are going to Florida for Thanksgiving and want to do 4 to 6 days at Disney to see the Christmas decorations. We don't want to go the peak period.

Should we go the week before Thanksgiving or the week after? Why? What about decorations, the processional, and likely discounts?

If by processional you mean the Candlelight Processional, you'll have to wait until after Thanksgiving - it always starts the day after.

The weekend of thanksgiving is very busy, so if not into the big crowds, I would go around the Tuesday or Wednesday after Thanksgiving to start my vacation. Everything will be in full swing then for Christmas

You don't have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday for the crowds to go down; most people who will be there over Thanksgiving will be leaving on Sunday. I just checked the crowd calendars on easyWDW for this year, and it went from a 9 on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to a 4 on Sunday.

We always waited because air fares are cheaper mid week then weekend

Thanks for the replies! We are driving or doing the auto train so flights aren't a problem and we'll probably do the week after Thanksgiving so we can incorporate the Candlelight Processional.

What about the Christmas party?

What about the Christmas party?

The Christmas party will be taking place the week after Thanksgiving, if that's what you're asking. (It doesn't take place the week of Thanksgiving because that's too busy a week to close the MK early.) It should take place on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

I would go the week after Thanksgiving easily. The crowds are low but start to build the closer to Christmas. The procession starts and you will have a couple of choices on the narrator that you would like to see if you go the first week of December.

Thanks everyone: After Thanksgiving it is. Think I'll check in Saturday, and check out the following Friday and do the Processional and the Party.

Thanks again!
