Before or After Thanksgiving?

We're currently planning to go Sunday, Nov 30th and come home Wednesday, Dec 3rd (driving 7 hrs ea way.) I don't like the idea of pulling the girls out of school for 3 days. Would it be total madness to go to DL the weekend before T-day? That way the girls would only miss 2 days of school (Mon and Tues.) Dh is worried about the crowds being too much.

You all are so knowledgeable that I just know you won't lead me astray

I went the weekend before t-day last year, and even though each day got more crowds, it was still awesome, and i never waited more than 30 mins for anything.

As long as you avoid the week of Thanksgiving, specificly that Wednesday through Sunday, you shoud be fine.

I vote after, unless your kids are in 8th grade or above.

Judy, under normal circumstances I'd agree with you. But we live in a very strict school district. If my kids miss 10 days of school (unexcused, excused, illness, hospitalization, etc.) then they are automatically un-enrolled from the district. I then have to re-enroll them, and there is no guarantee that they'd be in the same class, let alone the same school even. We've missed 1 day, so I have 8 more "safe" days to last us the whole year. My dh says I'm too paranoid, I say I'm playing it safe lol.

I was the mother who always took her kids out of school the week after thanks giving or the 2nd week of December now due to the truancy laws i'm not doing that. I want no parts of jail.. lol
so this time were going during thanksgiving week..... ooh well either way were in Disneyland so that is all that matters right lol. we went Sept 1st-6th and i already got my 1st warning for taking the kids out of school ouch.....
