Before and after hours rentals at National at Dolphin?

We are going to Legoland for one day during our trip to Disney in October. We are staying at Boardwalk, so it seems like it would be pretty easy to rent a car for the day from National at the Dolphin to drive over. My question is . . . I'd like to pick the car up at 7:30am (before they open at 8am) and return it around 6pm (after they close at 4pm). Any thoughts/suggestions? I'm not wild about the thought of keeping it over night the night before and after we need it, both because of the hassle (and cost?) of parking and because I don't want to eat up time on two other park days to deal with rental and return. Am I out of luck, or does anyone have any suggestions?

You are out of luck for the hours you want at the Dolphin. Did you try the CCC? They will actually pick you up and bring you back at the end of your rental. Their hours:
Sun: 06:00 am 06:00 pm
Mon-Fri: 06:00 am 08:00 pm
Sat: 06:00 am 06:00 pm

Your resort does not charge guests for parking, btw.

Is there any way you can pick up the car right at 8:00 when the counter opens?

Returning the car at the Dolphin is easy because you can return it to the valet at any time of day or night. They will give you a receipt.

You will not be charged for parking at your resort, but you'll need to get the parking permit to put on the dash.

yup
just make a reservation in advance because that location does sell out of cars.

If the car is parked overnight there will be a parking charge at the Dolphin or Swan.
