Mailbox area earlier today. There is a hosta hiding there among all that tall grass:

I dug up the hosta, divided it up, taking out the grass, and have it sitting in water in shade waiting for new homes. I have a NEW plant for the mailbox area. I found at a nursery today, finally! = Geranium "Alpenglow" Cranesbill. It is not your Johnson Blue but it is very pretty.

They had a few different variations to chose from including a "New" one called Rozanne but the leaves were not as nice as this one and the other ones were too tall. I wanted something low. Oh, I just see on the back of tag it says Geranium sanguinium

I should have taken a closer view. Maybe tomorrow.

I added in the back some leftover begonia I had even though it sorta clashes. Now, the bricks you see there, I had placed them there a couple of years go but evidentally I placed them too low because the grass grew right over them. So, after digging the grass off of them, I was looking for remedy and came up with some leftover edging material to hopefully block any further encroachment of grasss onto that area.

I am very happy.

And just think, I first heard about Cranesbill from YOU guys!!

Nice job... Should fill in and look spectacular!!!

It is amazing to me that the only place I can grow grass is the places I don't want it... Sorta nice to see I am not the only one with that problem...

Do you hire out. WE don't like to do much yard work around here. We could use someone with a green thumb.

Welcome to the Flower & Garden board, Megan's Mom! :)

You don't enjoy gardening? :) Or, is it a matter of not having enough time? :)

I love flowers and appreciate a beautiful yard/garden. We were in Victoria British Columbia last summer and went to their gardens and of course I wanted to do all these flowers at home but we didn't plant any. Part of it is time. My husband doesn't want to mow around anything. And with our hot and yes dry summers it just takes so much time and energy. Wtih a husband that travels a lot and a special needs child there isn't much time left for gardening but I do appreciate them.

Yes. They were wonderful. We were with a tour group so we didn't get to stay as long as we would have like. I hope to go back again soon. The rose gardens were to die for. Something we all noticed was that there were no weeds or bees there. Everything was very well kept.
