Beers of the world???

The secret to drinking around the world is, just like any other athletic activity, to train (12 ounce curls count as exercise, right?)! Just like a marathoner has to work his way up to 26.2 miles, a drinker has to work their way up to 11 (or more) drinks in an afternoon. Another tip - if you train too hard, you will, undoubtedly, get injured. The key is to take it slowly and to not overtrain.

One difference, however, is that the marathoner has a low risk of becoming a raging alcoholic during the course of his training...

Honestly I think the beer selection was better a few years back, but I think Germany's has improved. If only there was a belgian stand in epcot. Is it still possible to get unibroue in le celliar?

Yup, ate at LC twice a few weeks ago. I enjoyed quite a few Fin du Mondes and Maudites. It's a shame that LC doesn't have a takeout window. The Canadian stand doesn't serve the Unibroue

It is really sort of silly to me that they have stella there. If they were going to have a belgian beer at a UK pub there are so many better ones they could have picked, but I guess they wanted to find a way to put a lager in there for the folks that like lagers.

We were there a few weeks after they introduced Stella, it was in March of 2004 or maybe 2003. The tap puller at the time (Carl?) recommended it and when I asked what a Belgian beer was doing in in a UK Pub he told me that Stella is the best selling brew in the UK, or maybe England, I didn't think to distinguish because I'd already had a few Tennents. A little hops trivia.

I've never called it that, but I've learned the secret to drinking a stella, at least for me. If I think "I'm going to drink a belgian beer" then I will be really disapointed. If I think "I'm going to drink a lager" then it is OK.

To the extent that it's mass produced and has very little character, "Belgian Bud" is a fitting description for Stella.

Epcot isn't the greatest place for beer geeks. There's nothing there that you can't find in a decent beer store in most areas of the US.

That is very true. I was shocked to see that when I went to ABC Liqour store that they had just about every singal beer that was offered at Epcot.

Lol about Stella being sold in the UK pavillion! Over here it is quite a widely drunk beer and is often called 'A pint of wife beater' as after a drunken domestic it is commonly found that one of those involved has drunk Stella, useless bit of info, but interesting although not necesssarily politically correct.

Hi Bill, I've heard that more than once myself, but I'm not sure if they meant "England" or the whole "UK." I've also heard that the top selling beer in London is Fosters. I guess Bud or Miller lite is probably the best selling beer in the US. I think they just wanted a way to charger 7 bucks for a pint of lager.

I agree that there really isn't much in epcot for a beer geek.

Stella is a dear lager in the UK. It probably is more drunk down south. In Scotland we have a lot of other lagers that will be drunk more than Stella. BTW your American beer is way lighter than ours... it's more equivalent to our lagers.

If you start in Mexico then by the time you get to France taste is no longer an issue. Tsing Tao was my favorite, I even pick up a 6 pack of it at ABC once in a while.

I usually start in Mexico with a Fiesta Margarita. :thumbsup2

Funny about Stella--. A few years back it was rather hard to find 'round these parts. Now, on tap at any # of restaurants and even available at the local Case and Keg beer store. Becoming quite mainstream. If my VFW post ever gets it (where if you order anything except Bud Light, Yuengling or Rolling Rock you get a dirty look), it will have arrived!!
Tho I'm not a fan of Stella, have to admit they did their marketing well.

I did the same thing. We started in Mexico and got Fiesta Margaritas. My only complaint was that they were frozen and Im not one to slowly sip on a drink so when I tried to drink it a little faster it gave me a brain frezze.

After reading all of these posts, when I came across a Stella yesterday I just had to try it. Thought it was ok, I like Dos Equis better. Looking forward to trying lots of different beers at Epcot in a couple of weeks. :drinking1
