While doing Beers Around the World a few weeks back, we noticed that the Chinese pavilion is selling Yeungling Beer. WT frick?!?

I hope somebody at Disney doesn't think Yeungling is a Chinese beer because the name looks kinda Chinese. I mean, considering it's the oldest brewery in the US, based in Pennsylvania and there's also a domestic brewery in Tampa (which is what - 90 minutes from Orlando?), I'd think someone at Disney might be able to step up and say, "Uh, guys - Yeungling is not a Chinese beer."

(btw, if I sound a little bitter, it's because I lost $5 when one of the girls in our group told me she was drinking a Yeungling from China and I bet her she had the name wrong).

A few other discrepancies I noticed for you Beers Around the World aficianados:

Norway sells Carlsberg, which is a Danish beer. They used to sell Ringes (a Norwegian beer), but Carlsberg acquired the Ringes brand a few years back and now, apparently, does not distribute Ringes outside of Norway. Hence, we now drink Danish Beer at the Norwegian pavilion.

I know the UK pavilion has had Stella Artois on tap for a few years, even though it's a Belgian beer. Since Stella is very popular in the UK (and I believe there are even breweries there), it's not a complete surprise.

I always like to stop at the China pavillion for a Tsingtao beer... are you sure that's not what you saw there?

Funny you should say that. When my friend told me she was drinking Yuengling, my comment was "You sure it's not Tsingtao?" and she said "no, it's Yuengling" and that's when the bet occured.

I went up to the counter, and sure enough, they're selling Yuengling.

And the beer they replaced with the Stella, Tennents was a genuine UK beer and one of my favorites in the world. It was a disappointing day in my life when I found out they no longer had Tennents there. Luckily I found a local bar that carries it, and for cheaper.

What's funny is that Yuengling isn't even an international beer, it's made in good 'ol PA!

This made me chuckle. The brewery in about 10 miles from my house.
I guess it sounds like it from China. When in Rome err China, Drink beer from Pottsville PA!

Stella is owned by InBev (who now owns Anheuser-Busch), and I believe InBev was sponsoring that beer trailer a while back (you could get Bass Ale as well, another InBev product). As usual at Disney, the sponsorships pretty well determine what is available (not complaining, just stating a fact- that's the way it is).

InBev owns nearly half the beers in the world. All the Anheuser-Busch brands, Bass, Becks, Boddington, Hoegaarden, Kirin, Stella & Tennent's among others. Maybe they should just put a Belgian pavilion in Epcot so we don't have to walk around the lagoon to get our beer!

As for the whole Yuengling/China fiasco, I wonder if 1) someone at Disney really is confused by the name and actually thinks it's a Chinese beer or 2) someone at Disney thinks they can pull a fast one on unsuspecting guests by serving them a domestic beer with a Chinese-sounding name. I'm sure it's a lot cheaper to get Yuengling from the local brewery in Tampa than it is to get an authentic Chinese beer (luckily, they still serve tsingtao)...

I'm just happy they have Casa back in Morocco. They seemed to not have it for about 12 months and have seemed to have it in stock since last October or so.

Last summer I ordered a "Moroccan beer" at Tangierine Cafe and got a Heineken.

classic! even though i'm not a big heineken fan, i think you made out on that deal, as i don't care for the moroccan beer they usually serve - casa blanca. tastes a bit like ram urine - not that i'd know.

No more Bass Ale in the UK now either? Wow, I haven't had beer in Epcot in a while. The last time I was there we only did the fruity drinks.

I didn't know Yuengling was in China but I don't know it's at the Promenade Refreshments and at the Fife and Drum Refreshment stand in World Showcase too.

Yuengling seems to be the "cool beer" right now. Not too many people have heard of it so it comes in and everyone thinks it's the best beer around simply because it's different. This happened a few years ago when Rolling Rock (another Pennsylvania beer) was the big thing. Heck, I was even charged for a foreign beer once when I ordered a Rolling Rock (not at Disney World).

I just think it's a ploy to try and get everyone to spell Yuengling correctly. Next thing you know, we'll all have to spell Schuykill and learn how to pronounce it (if you are not from PA, don't worry about that last comment).

LOL- I saw the title, and thought myself, "huh?? It's a domestic!!!"

I hope they just picked a place to sell a different beer, and they're not seriously trying to pass it off as Chinese!!

My husband is still sore that Ringnes is gone. He's a huge beer fan and now we always have to hit Knightly Spirits right from the airport to pick up some Belgians before making our way to WDW.

Just to clarify, they are still selling Bass in the UK pavilion. At least, they were 2 weeks ago when I was there.
