Beer????

Even though you're going in July and this is only avaliable in Oct my DH insist that I mention the Sam Adams Festival Ale they do for the Food & Wine festival. We both really enjoyed it. If anyone is going to F&W it's served at the American Beer Garden at AA.

For fresh made, nothing beats Big River Brew Works @ Boardwalk!! Hands down the best IPA (India Pale Ale) I've ever had, and that's saying something! ...!

Now that's pretty bold... I'll have to verify this statement personally ;)

Ex-pat Brit been living in Philly for 10 years... was terrified that I'd be drinking Bud the rest of my life when I moved here... but love the microbrew scene here :)

Don't normally associate Florida with good beer - and despite being English I don't see anything at the Rose and Crown that excites me (all the names I see here are renowned for their mediocrity ;) ), but I'll be certain to check out the Spaten and the Fin du Monde when I do my drink round the world day :)

Unibroue (at Le Cellier and The Brown Derby) is the best beer served at Disney (drinking a Koningshoeven Triple as I type this)...try the Maudite, Trois Pistoles or La Fin du Monde. You can also ask for it to go at Cellier (we did this last year). Next in line would be Optimator or Franziskaner at Germany. Unfortunately Raglan and R&C carry only the usual bland euro macros and no real ales.

Aahh... Nice to see someone else who doesn't believe a yellow pilsner in every country is variety. :) ... Personally, I'm into the Doppelbocks, so the Optimator is my first choice.... Of course... part of that could be because I'm from Quebec and can walk into any corner store and pick up a Unibroue beer any time I want I guess :) heh . ( which don't get me wrong, I love them too :) )

I'm not a huge Sam Adams fan, but they make some solid brews. I've gotta agree though, 2007's Festival beer was excellent! I had the Festival brew both in 06 and 07, but the 07 seemed a little better.

I wish I asked what style the beer was. It tasted like a strong German Brown Ale or Altbier. I could be way off though. Whatever style, it was dark, strong, and tasted even better after my third ...

I believe it was a weizenbock that will be part of this year's SA Longshot release (although it certainly didn't have anywhere near the 7-8% ABV this style normally has).

This is a fabulous thread!!! We are going in September and my poor hubby was worried that the only thing he'd be able to get at Biergarten is Beck's (which he doesn't care for). Now he can't wait to try a beer flight at Raglan Rd and some of the other beers that are mentioned here. I'm an ale girl, and mostly drink our local Scottish Ale (even though I live in Maine! :lmao: ) but I'm drooling over the new things to try! I may even give up my Jack & Coke for the entire time we are there!:rolleyes1

Sorry for all the posts, I really have to learn how to do the multi quote thingy.
I understand there are only two states who have Sunday blue laws now, unfortunately I live in one of them. Here in biblebelt Gerogia you can get adult beverages in any establishment that serves food, after 12:30 pm, you don't have to buy food mind you. You can sit in a bar at Chili's for instance and get totally sloshed, but you can't go to a store buy it and take it home to drink. Dumbest law I ever heard ! Okay getting off the soapbox now, just wanted to share that bit of brillance with my fellow DIS beer drinkers.

So after your July trip you have to share with us what beers you tried, so take notes!

My dad lives in Douglasville and I had the luxury of living there for a year - so I understand.

I'll totally send you a case of that beer, if I could find it....

send me a link of what it looks like and I'll see what I can do.

My grandmother sends my dad booze all the time, however for a short period, my dad had to get a PO Box in Alabama just so that he could receive his booze!!

Hi Caitlin
Yhea you can't ship booze here either! I used to send some of our local wines to my MIL in CA, UPS would do it for me if we double packed it.

Here's the website but when i pulled it up, they no longer list my favorite :sad1: which was Downtown After Dark:

I really appreciate the offer but it looks like it might be gone, now I'm bummed.

If you ever go to Universal Citywalk in Hollywood they have a Karl Strauss brewery restaurant and like most brew pub you can get a sampler. :drinking1 They also sell a few of them at California Adventure.

Hope you get to try them.

PS Since you've lived here I have to tell you that when I went to bed last night it was 60º at 9pm, today we've has snow flurries all day!

Hmmmmm. Glad to see this thread active again. In honor of St Patrick's Day here's a great link.

go during the food and wine fest. there are many small kiosks with different eers like authentic fosters from austrailia

Great timing on the Ragland Rd site post. We just chose RR for our first night dinner when we go to the Food & Wine Festival. I'm currently planning dinner there for 11 people! Can't wait to send this great website to everyone else.

As for St Patrick's Day this Irish girl is going to be on a ship in the middle of the Caribbean with my In Laws!! :scared1: How NOT Irish is that !? At least my sister will be with us too, she's Irish! (obviously)

Speaking of great timing my husband just came home with Don De Dieu! It's from Unibroue, haven't tried that one yet, LOVE La Fin Du Monde. He's a good husband!
