Beer steins in Germany at Epcot?

I was at WDW in July, and I was going to buy a beer stein for DH in Germany. I decided at the last minute not to do this, because I honestly had no clue how much these are supposed to cost. Well, I did some research, and lo and behold...I should have bought one there. The ones I was looking at were priced at around $75, plus I would have gotten 10% off since I am an AP holder (I asked the CMs there, and they said that they give a 10% discount for AP holders). The plan was to give this to him for the holidays this year. The bad thing is that my next trip to WDW is not until July 2012. :headache: And also that when I looked online, most of the nice beer steins were more like $100 each. I just thought that at WDW it would be more expensive than online...I'm so mad at myself.

My options right now are to either hold off until 2012 and give him a beer stein that year for the holidays, or buy one online at the higher price. I forgot the name of the store that was selling the beer steins in Germany. Anyone know the name, or if there is any company I can order them from online?

Hey July buddy!

I would contact Disney Merchandising. I've bought things that I decided against and then changed my mind once I got home!

If you have a receipt from another purchase, the number should be on there. Or you can e-mail them at wdw.mail.order@disneyworld.com, describe the item you are looking for, where you saw it, etc. and they will locate it and get back to you with an item number and cost. Then you can just place your order. Not sure if they will give you the 10% AP discount but doesn't hurt to ask!

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

OH and if there is a specific one you are looking for but you can't describe it enough in words, try to google a picture of the beer steins in epcot. You might find the exact one you wanted and then include that in the e-mail. I did that when I mail ordered my wedding ears. I wanted to make sure they sent me the headband and not the "hat" one.

Hi there Nikki!! Are you having the "Disney Blues" too? For me, it's a combination of 2 things....I don't go back to WDW until July 2012 so we don't have a trip booked right now (can't book until next August), and this coming Tuesday I go back to work. Actually, the second one is more of a general blues feeling...I'm going to miss my kids so much when I go back to work and they go to school! :sad1:

OK, now that I have depressed you...thanks so much for all that info! I am going to email them tomorrow, after I google some pics. I guess I can always ask if they could give me the AP discount, but even if they don't, those beer steins were amazing! I would love to get one of them for DH and not have to wait 2 more years to do that!

Oh I totally have the disney blues!! We don't know when we're going back...we are hoping for next Sept so that's not TOO far away. My first day back with the kids is Tuesday too. So depressing!!

Let me know if you're able to get what you want!

Do people actually drink beer out of beer steins, or do you just display them?

Just curious... since I drink from a bottle or a glass myself and don't know anyone who owns beer steins.

I don't know, but DH appreciates a fine beer, and I know he was looking at beer steins and that he would love one! Not sure if he would use it to actually drink beer (he already has a beer mug engraved with his name :rotfl2:), but I'm sure he would LOVE to display it in the china cabinet! :thumbsup2

Wow, next September would be awesome for you!! By then I will at least have my July 2012 trip booked, and probably changing my list of potential ADRs like 10 times a day until January 2012 when I can actually book them! :lmao:

I go back Tuesday, but the kids don't come in until Wednesday. We are off next Thursday and Friday for the Jewish holiday. So I really have nothing to complain about until September 13th! :rotfl2:

We're surprising the boys with an overnight trip to Lancaster, PA over Columbus Day weekend. Marriott sent me a Rewards Certificate for a free night before March 31, 2011, so DH and I couldn't think of a better way to spend it! We already had planned to go to Lancaster for a day trip over Columbus Day weekend, so this will just make it even better!

I still have to email Disney and see if I can get a beer stein. Today I didn't have time. It was a difficult day...my sister's older dog passed away. She had 2 pugs, now the younger one is going to be lonely, but we will shower her with attention. Her older dog was very sick, but it happened quickly. It's only recently that she is sick, and the last 2 days were terrible for her. She was a huge part of this entire family, and we all love her very much and we will miss her very much. I came home this afternoon from running a few errands, and my nieces were here. I knew something was wrong. I went to the animal hospital to say goodbye. We were all grateful we had the chance to say goodbye. My dad brought my nieces over there at the very end to say goodbye to her. It was heartbreaking, seeing them so sad. I hope she is in a better place now. Just a sad, sad day. :sad1:

Yeah we have that Thurs and Fri off too. It's nice to ease back into it!

So sorry to hear about your sister's dog. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. It's been almost a year since I lost my cat Jack and I still think about him everyday. And just 2 years before he died, his "sister" Kitty passed away. Jack was so beside himself, I actually took him to the vet for meds! He missed her terribly and then he became the most spoiled cat in the world! It was much harder when he passed...the apartment just felt so empty, still does. At least you have the other dog to, as you said, shower with attention!

Thanks for your kind words! I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your cats too. I don't think we ever forget them. When I was 3, my parents got a dog, and named her Muffin. She was so sweet, we could do anything to her and she wouldn't bother us. She never bit anyone. She lived to be 12 years old. She had become diabetic, and her body just shut down. I was 15 when she passed away, and I still think about her all the time. She was in a diabetic coma after my dad took her to the vet (within a day of taking her there), and my parents decided to euthanize her because the vet said she was not going to come out of it. For my Sweet 16, a friend of mine adopted a puppy and gave her to me. I named her Patches. of course, when I went away to college she stayed with my parents, and she basically became my parents' dog when I got married. She passed away 4 years ago, at the age of 13. She was OK, just old age. It was just her time. That time was very hard because my father woke up one morning to go to work, and she had passed away on the kitchen floor. My mom called me immediately and I went right over there. She looked like she was asleep and it looked like she would jump up any minute. We all still think about her every day. My parents are not going to get another dog because after going through that twice, they don't want to have to go through it ever again...too painful. :sad1:

You're absolutely right, the steins seem expensive, but comparable ones are actually more on the internet. Anyway, I bought a brewery glass there this summer and my receipt says:

Der Teddybar
Store Number 6623
Mechandise Guest Services
WDW Mail Order 407-363-6200

I don't know about others, but DH just displays his, except the one you get when you buy the beer at Epcot, but that is the only time he drinks out of it, because it is hard to wash (we don't have a dishwasher).

He prefers his beer in a bottle.

Wonder if we are in the same community. I also go back to work on Tuesday with students starting Wednesday. We also have Thursday and Friday off.

DW and I will be back there next month. If I can remember, I will get the names of the stores for you. Like you, we bought some as souvenirs for some relatives. We wanted one for us to, but by the time we went back to get them, money fell short. It's our mission this round to get some for us. Subbing to this thread so I hopefully don't forget.

We teach in NYC. Where are you working?

Thanks so much for that! Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

You might want to do a search and see if you have any shops in your area that sells these things. You might find some specialty or import stores that are reasonable.
