Beer can chicken

I do mine in the oven all the time and it turns out great! I use ginger ale instead of beer though, and generally sitck some rosemary into the can before putting the chicken on it. I rub it all over with a mixture of salt/pepper/garlic powder and bake until done. I like the fact that the skin is crispy all over and that the chicken itself is extremely moist and juicy.

Enjoy,

Linda

I gave it a half of a can of beer. What more could it ask for? :lmao:

The ginger ale recipe with the rosemary sounds good.

The beer butt chicken was quite yummy! :thumbsup2 We'll be making it again sometime.

It's DELICIOUS!! My sister's fiance made it last summer at their annual bbq and it never tasted so good!

How long in the oven & what temp?

Sounds yummy - but the visual!! :rotfl2:

we make it all the time on the grill....really the only way I'll eat grilled chicken!

Okay, first of all, I'm a "chick" who cooks on the grill several times a week! I usually cook beer can chicken, once a week. I often change the ingredients in the "beer" can. I most often get lots of compliments on the chicken, when instead of beer, I use wine! Take any beer/coke can fill it half way up with white wine and lots of herbs. Whatever you have on hand, but rosemary & basil seems to be the hit around here. Season the outside of the chicken, very genorously with your favorite seasoning mix. ( At my house we use my husband's homeade cajun mix, but you can use whatever you like the best!)

This is one of those things I've always wanted to try but have never made. Thanks for the recipe, I may try it out this week.

Using wine instead of beer seems like a good idea too. Also, I bet using different beers will give the meat a different flavor. Looks like a good recipe to experiment with.

The wine sounds awesome...I have heard that you can use juice or soda but never tried it...

I made it in the summer and it was very good! I made a concoction on lemon pepper, garlic powder and olive oil to rub on the outside.

You can actually buy a "stand" for the chicken at Walmart. There is a hole in the center of the stand to hold the beer/coke can, and helps hold the chicken upright.

If I want to cook it in the oven...what temp and for how long ? :confused3
