kids are looking forward to going around the world with their passorts, i thought I would surprise my husband with a beer around the world passport. Does anyone know all the different beers and where to get them?

Thanks, Beth

I'll start and some other, more knowing folks will correct me where I err and add to my list.

As I recollect:

Canada: Moosehead? I'm really unsure on this one. This may be a faulty recollection and I've given in to the advertising in the states.

England: Guiness Stout, Bass Ale, Tennant's, Harp Lager, Boddington's Ale.

France: ? (usually have wine here)

Japan: Kirin

Germany: Beck's

USA: Samuel Adams

Mexico: XX (Dos Equis)

Norway: Ringnes (always popular)

China: Tsingtsao

Italy: ? (perhaps Moretti or Peroni, I usually have wine here)

Morroco: ? (haven't tried it)

At the Rose & Crown pub try a "black & tan". It's Guiness and Bass. Good for what "ales" ya.;)

If the search facility is working, enter a search for beer/World Showcase. There are a number of threads with links to groups that drink around the "world" that would give you more ideas.

OOOH! Six days and counting!

I believe that Canada also had Labatt beers and I think that Peroni is available in Italy. I usually just have Ringnes or two. :teeth:

By the way, I wouldn't drink around the world and then head over to the Disney Studios and ride the Tower of Terror either. Blech!

Morocco SHOULD have Casablanca--but last time I was there, they didn't.

I would like to cast another positive vote for the beer in Norway. The biggest disappoinment IMHO is the beer in Germany. With all of the superb beers to choose from, I believe that Beck's is not the best offering.

OH how true!! Go to an authentic German restaurant and you probably wouldn't even see Becks--and if they had it, would be buried at the bottom of the beer list in small print.
Now, for a Heffeweisen, Marzen, Bock--would be nice if they could expand to those things.

Uncleromulus-

Glad to see someone of like mind regarding German beer. I work for a German based company, and travel to Frankfurt several times a year. The beers we drink are from regional breweries, and would be unfamiliar to most people. Definitely the best beer I have ever had. I don't even want to get into the discussion comparing American Schnapps with German Schnapps!

Taylor:
Just had a Marzen (on draft) at a restaurant last nite!!!
Isn't the oldest Brewery in the world in Germany?? Dating from 1150 AD or something?? I had the bottle label a while back, but now it's MIA.

:p Definately try the Tennants Lager at the Rose & Crown. One of the smoothest beer's Ive ever had. Then of course you have to have a couple of Black & Tans, just because!!!!!!:p

Weihenstephaner? I think that may be the oldest brewery in the world. They make a very good hefeweizen.

Other suggestions:

Aventinus
Spaten Lager
any of the common Oktoberfests (Hacker Pschorr or Paulaner)

Beth, when are you going to WDW. During F&W in 2001 they had Corsendonk and SamiClaus on tap, yummy...I'm waiting for reports on this years F&W, we'll be there in Nov.

I posted that it was on tap at the 2001 F&W, along with one of my favorite brown ales, Corsendonk. There were several other very good "Old World" beers.

BTW, I still have 4 bottles of SamiClaus in the basement, '95,96 & 97.
