So inlaws are coming down with us and both asked about beer given we have no car.

Searched but did not fine recent information.

From what I read, the following options exist for beer and wine:

- take bus to DDT, pleasure island stop, walk over to Hess;
- get delivery from beerrun.biz (anyone know delivery charge to ASSp); garden grocery or MouseHouseConcierge (anyone know of good wine stores that deliver?....my go to wine warehouse seems to be out of biz and it's a long way to have wine trucked from B21 in tarpon spings although they do it on certain days);
- take bus to DDT and taxi to goodings/publix or ABC (for largest alcohol/beer wine selection i can tell off the 435 by Windixi);
- buy at store at ASSp...anyone know the price and confirm if only 2 per person and no 6 or other packs like POR - strange that what i read is that some resorts have better selections...e.g. the thread about the 24 bottles of Heiniken at POR for around 42$....(not cheap but not horrible...).

Any other ideas I am missing?

Many thanks.

We use gardengrocer.com for all of our grocery needs. They have water, beer, wine, gatorade, snacks and lots more. If you don't see something on their website that you want; call, e-mail or put in the comment section and someone will get back to you.

We have used them x2 and were very happy each time.

In Feb, we used beerrun. I believe there was a 10.00 delivery charge and then we added a tip on top of that. We had it delivered the morning of check in. When we arrived in the room we called bell services and had it delivered.
They have a very large selection and actually was able to get DH's favorite Long Island micro brew and another stout that they recommended.

I did call garden grocer as well, but they wanted a $40 min grocery order and we didn't want any food!

Edit: beer run also has a large selection of wine as well.

I had all these grand plans of using delivery service or going to Hess for beer/ wine last trip. Once I got to the resort I walked to the resort gift shop and got what I needed. I wasn't worth the extra time and saving maybe a couple bucks in the end (and I love a deal). I didn't find the resort prices to be really all that horrible.

yes, but my question is specifically about the ASSp one that seems to suggest it is much more per - $5 - 2 max at a time and savings on 8 days worth of beer for 6 adults will be substantial. thank you but it is going to be a substantial savings.

[and from what i gather, having beerrun deliver at the $10 does not strike me as extra time?]

This place: Disney World Personal Shopper delivers beer and wine. They charge a 10.00 delivery fee to the resorts and 18% service fee. They also have to meet you at the resort to check your ID, which I'm guessing the others such as Garden Grocer do as well?

We've never used a service for grocery delivery so I'm not sure how all that works. We drive down so we take snacks and drinks and water...etc.

thanks. hmmm....i think even with 100 purchase, 18% plus 10 takes this into taxi cost to just take the bus to DDT and taxi to the ABC liquor...i guess you pay for saving time.

I've done the Hess run from dowtown disney and it was great! Took a while to travel, but worth it. I remember the shock at seeing prices for beer and chips and stuff, after being in the Disney bubble. Also helped that I was at POFQ, so it was just a boat ride away!

I din't care who you are, 7+ days at Disney and paying for their prices for beer, wine and alcohol will cost anyone a pretty penny... Domestic and draft beer at 5.00 each, mixed drink 8-9.00 each and don't know what a glass of wine will cost ya.

Even buying in quantity at the gift shops are no bargain...we also not people to nurse one beer a day... We go to WDW to relax and have some adult libations...we have a car service pick us up at the Kissimmee Amtrak station and they grant us a 30 minute grocery stop.... We choose Publix and there's a liquor store next door.....let alone what we save over Disney's prices on food, we pick up sandwich makings for afternoon picnics and beer wine and alcohol comes to a substantial savings over the week....

We have never had to meet Garden Grocer with an ID....we have used them for every trip and love it!

so they will just leave beer with the bell man? it looks like when you order via GG, you send your ID via email/fax....perhaps that is why.

i tried to imply this...my inlaws are both retired...and they have the same idea...

Interesting...we have never done that either and yes, they always left our beer/liquor with bell services.

The 1st time we did Gardengrocer 2010 we did not send our ID in ahead of time. This year Aug 2012, I e-mailed a photo of my id. Since our order was over $200.00, there was no delivery fee, just what ever tip you wanted to give. For us, being able to pick everything out ahead of time, have the same prices as our store locally and everything delivered for us was a huge time saver and worth it. We gave our neighbors some leftover stuff at the end of our trip.

i read here that back in May they may have stopped allowing the same but then in July started up...

this is the message when you add beer to your cart on GG:

When we have ordered previously, they did not have beer/liquor available to order in the cart...you had to add a message to your order and then they contacted you to pay separately. So, doing it that way, they never requested ID. I guess with the change, they must need ID beforehand.

Order from Beer run, they have an awesome selection and can even get items not listed on line:) They can deliver to you or Bell services.

this was looking like the best beer/wine only option...
