I've been to Disney 7 times but this will be my first time going to the Food and Wine Festival and I could use some tips and advice.

First: My main objective is that I would love to attend the taping of The Chew but living in Canada I cannot even view their advertisement video on their site due to international rights agreements. Blah blah blah!

So if anyone has any tips about when and where to get tickets for the show I would love to know how I go about getting them.

Second: I don't drink but my husband is planning to have a drink at all the worlds so if there is something like a special/discount to buy or order for that please let me know.

Other than that any and all tips would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Check out the official 2017 F & W thread over on the restaurant boards. That is the main spot for all details about this year's festival. As for the Chew taping if you are a D23 member their special event in October includes seating at one taping. There will be a Tasting Sampler package available again this year that gives you 8 coupons to redeem for items at the booths for $59. Using it for the specialty drinks is a good use of the coupons. They don't allow you to use them on the Champagnes or beer or liquor flights.

Here's a link to the F & W Thread:

This link contains a lot of info that was released at the preview event held this past Sunday:

I don't know how to get the Chew tickets and I'm sure someone will chime in on that. One tip though - I recall last year that a lot of people who got the tickets didn't show up and they let random park guests in. So if you are unable to get tickets when they are released and are really interested in seeing the taping then doesn't help to lurk around the area at the right time.

The official press releases are saying " Instructions on how to obtain show taping tickets will be announced at a later date."

Last year they did it via the chew website. i'm not sure if it was first come first serve or lottery but I remember it being closer to the taping like that week if you were there you could ask for them and got a fast response. (confirm that this is my memory). I believe some people posted here about getting tickets to search and see hwo they got them and when they got them last year.

We went last year and were pleased to find that the food at the international kiosks were accepting snack credits.

They do. Worth nothing to anyone paying for the dining plan it's an awful use of your credits. Most of the items at the kiosks cost less than the dollar value given to a snack credit on the dining plan. If it's free dining I guess it matters less but you still "pay" for that by forgoing the room discount.

Have your hubby go slow and steady. There are roughly 21-22 stops across Food and Wine and each serves alcohol. Nobody wants to be the person who ruins others vacations but being the belligerent drunk because they drank 22 drinks in half a day. Yes the bigger pours are a better value but stick with the smaller pours.

The Chew depends. Last year they filled a lot of spots with CMs and then released tickets beyond that to the general public through the chew website.

We made dozens of trips to WDW over a period of decades before going to F&W. Finally broke down and did it a few years ago and now it's a favorite activity on our trips. We've enjoyed going to the soft opening the day before F&W officially opens. It's a soft opening in the truest sense in that not all the booths are up & running, and there may be some menu items not available, but you can sample some food and sort of get the lay of the land with almost no crowds. Have fun & good luck seeing The Chew. :earsboy:

Wow didn't realize there were so many stops. Planning on taking two days at Epcot to do all the worlds and try as many different things as I can and still be able to fit into my pants by the end of the week. :rotfl2:

There are usually 11 countries but during Food and Wine they add 1-3 kiosk to each country many being different then the always there country so it totals to over 20 different experiences. Food and Wine is a much harder drink around the world experience than a regular day at Epcot. Two days is a good starting point.

really? I always viewed it as a great use of a snack credit. A lot of the samples are upwards of $7-8, majority over $5 ... well more than a Mickey Bar or something

My number 1 tip is always try to go during the week ... the local crowd comes in Friday night and Saturday and the lines at the booths can get crazy. I've seen 40+ people deep on the weekend and the same booth be a total walk-up during mid-week

I think some people say they are bad snack credits due to the portion size. You can get bigger snacks elsewhere.

bigger? yeah, I guess - I rather get something like the grilled lamb chop or Kalua Pork Slider or pork belly than a mickey pretzel or something even if the later is bigger ... but to each their own obviously

Thanks. We usually never do much on the weekends other than shop as it's always too crowded. Good to know about not going on Friday either.

The best days are Tuesday and Wednesday. You'll see a small uptick on Thursday and Friday morning. Friday night - Sunday afternoon are slammed and it returns to manageable crowds around Monday evening.
