Been there..done that...now what?

Ok, we are a family that has traveled to WDW a couple of times each year for the past 5-6 years. We will be staying at the new AKLVillas this June for about 10 days. We feel like we have seen most of the parks...give us some new ideas of things to do and see?

We just need some new ideas and possibly the 'not so typical' things. What have you done?

You didn't say how many kids or any ages, but we'll try to give you a couple of our things.
We love (and I mean love) the Segway Tour at Epcot. Now unfortunately, it's for licensed drivers only and you need a ressie. But great fun! And if it's booked, its still fun to try one out at Future World in one of the Innoventions Bldg's I believe.
We also love the individual resort and their amenities...like riding bikes/surrey's/ driving the watercraft.
And we have also enjoyed 'touring' the other resorts that we've not stayed at. Like eating at Wilderness even though your not staying there. Having ice cream at the Yacht Club, seeing the Boardwalk, Downtown Disney/DisneyQuest.
I have 2 in college and a 4th grader, so we can always find something different!
What about an Illuminations' Cruise? We may do that this year also. My dh did the horticulture tour at Epcot. I know money may be an issue (it always is for our budget, but there really are tons to do!

We have gone to AKL to view the animals. You can see some of them up close.

We did a hayride at Fort Wilderness camp ground and rented a water mouse from there.

You could do the Disney segway tour at the Fort Wilderness campground. It last 2 hours and it is a great experience. I did it this past fall and had a blast. Learned some interesting things from our tour guides. The tour goes from the camp grounds through the woods and over to the Wilderness lodge and then back to the campgrounds.

Take the WDW transportation to Fort Wilderness and plan to spend the day there. Not only the Segway tour, but horseback riding, pony rides for little ones, fishing, bike riding, etc. Finish your visit by taking in the campfire sing-a-long with Chip and Dale followed by an outdoor movie

Thanks. We have 3 kids, DD11, DS6 & DD3. Would love the Segway tours, but only one of us could do it, so not fair to the other.

We always try and plan at least one or two new things each time we go.

Some ideas of things we've either done or are on our list:

waterpark if you haven't done one.
Minigolf one day
Tea at the Grand Floridian
Dining with an Imagineer
Rent a little boat on one of the lakes
Take the ferry from downtown Disney to a different resort.
Visit the boardwalk one night.
Behind the Scenes Magic Tour
Try a new restaurant
Would your 6 and 8 year old like the Pirates Cruise?
Hoop De Doo?
Polynesian Luau?
Disney Quest
See a movie

If you'll have a car...head offsite.

Visit an orange grove.
Town of Celebration is fun to walk around and get an ice cream or have dinner at.
Hit the outlets.

Have a blast!!!!

you can look for hidden mickeys , or you can try the new kim possible game at EPCOT , or i just seen a thread on here (WDW family challenge 2009 ) they have a list of stuff in all the parks you have to find , we are going to try this game in may

If you haven't done the stuff right there at AKL, check the board for the different tours, etc. There was so much to do at AKL when we went last year that we wished we'd had more time to spend right at the resort and not actually in the parks.

How about:

Visiting the horses at the Circle D Ranch at the Wilderness.
Ride the Mouse boaes in DTD
Mickey's Backyard BBQ
La Nouba
Character meal you haven't done before
Sit in the front of the monorail
Find the Lawnmower tree (tree has grown thru he lawnmower)
Movies on the beach at Yacht & Beach Clubs
Eat a "pail" of ice cream at Typhoon Lagoon
Get Ghiradelli's ice cream (fam loves the cookies too)

I usually get a unofficial guide book read it cover to cover and write down the things I never knew. We go every year and there are things I never heard of.

Lots of great ideas...

We have done many character meals, the pirate cruise (although the little one will get her turn in a couple years), mouse boats, kitchen sink at Boardwalk, Chip and Dale movie time at FW, We have the Hidden Mickey book - love that!! etc.

I will keep some of these other things in mind for this time...we leave in 2 months and I really would like some new adventures.

Keep the ideas coming..just in case we are missing something!

We are looking forward to DD turning 9 so that we can all go horseback riding at the WL! They also have hay rides and carriage rides.

I second the PP about the activities right at the Lodge. We stayed there back in 2006 and I was sorry that we didn't have more time to check out the activities. I was on my way to the laundry room and there were some kids painting bird houses. Way Cool! Maybe you could also check out some of the activities at the other resorts.

We have spent the day looking at the different Disney resorts. The Gaylord Palms just outside of Disney is neat to see. Old town is not very far away, there is go-carts, sky coaster, sling shot type ride. I think there is a car show there every weekend. The outlet stores are nice! We have taken the hour drive to the beach! The kids loved that!

If you have a car, the beach is a quick trip away. We took a day and went to Cocoa Beach - it was a Wednesday and the beach was EMPTY. We got Subway and had drinks (and a cheapo styrofoam cooler, since we'd flown) and had a great time.
