We won't be going until 2014, but as we should be booking this time next year, and because I'm a DISer it hasn't stopped me pricing up some options.

I really think if the OKW/SSR deal comes round again next year then that's what we'll do.

I love the look of both, but DH isn't keen that from SSR you can see non-Disney buildings, lol. But then you have the huge benefit of walking to DTD and using resort buses from there for meals etc.

OKW looks more peaceful, but is it going to be a pain with no car?

Here are the prices I've crunched.

These are the WDW UK prices for 2 weeks in october, including Tickets and regular DDP.

POFQ - £2453

OKW/SSR - £2552 (1 bed would be £3270)

WL - £3496

And then I had a look at DVC request, as we love the DVC studios, these prices are with $/£ at 1.5 and include no tickets or food.

AKL – Value - £1196

AKL – Savannah – £2010

Beach Club - £1855

Old Key West – Studio - £1352

OKW 1 bedroom - £3016 <------- compare that to the WDW UK offer :scratchin

Boardwalk Standard - £1352

Boardwalk Preferred - £1855

Wilderness Lodge - £1855

Stayed at Sarratoga last visit, staying at OKW this visit. OKW is what sold us on DVC, we were staying in Port Orleans on our first visit and went to Olivia's for dinner and decided that it was a much nicer resort than ours but were surprised we had not seen it in brochures.

Anyhoo, if you want to be walking distance at SSR there are certain blocks you need to be in to make it viable, otherwise it is bus or boat. We lucked out and had one of the closest. The boat at peak evening times can have a bit of a wait. SSR is a big resort, you may find it a long walk to reception and amenities. The longest time we hve had to wait for a resort bus is around 17 mins, only problem is when you are eating at another resort then you need to go to a park or DTD and switch to a bus for another resort. If you have younglings a taxi on the way back might be an idea. Hiring a smallc ar to get about is not a huge expense and can help you get basics from the nearby supermarket, the resort shops have a limited range and are a bit pricey. it also would allow you to organise your own trips to Busch and the Cape and would ease transport to Seaworld and Universal if you are going.

We have stayed at OKW 7 or 8 times and for us its the best resort at WDW. To get the best out of it you should try and request a room by the hospitailty house - that way its easy to get the boat to DTD and the best pool is near there.
Its a little more remote than most of the resorts but the bus service is great and hardly ever full.

which resort did you decide? OKW or SSR, i dont know which one either but we have 3 children and think OKW may be more suitable for kids???:confused3

We have been to Okw before in 1 bed room it was amazing, this time we are going to Okw in a studio. We did look at ssr but the studio rooms had 1 queen bed and 1 pull out sofa but Okw has 2 queen beds. We couldn't afford to upgrade to the 1 bed this time.

We had no problems last time with the buses and it was so peaceful x

I picked a studio at ssr. we will have a 14 month old and 11 year old. Decided on ssr as my elder daughter likes that it is close to dtd. I was going to try pofq as not bothered about having the full ddp but think the kitchen area will be handy with my little one. We are renting a car so don't mind staying at a bigger resort.

SSR is great. You will love it.

I would really recommend SSR two weeks before you arrive and requesting the location to stay in. They try hard to honor your request.

The Springs is a great area. Takes about a minute to walk to the main check in, restaurants, shop and pool. :)

We love SSR too.

We stayed in the paddock area this time which was great. They have a great pool over that area which serves good food and cocktails. The pool had kids entertainment (games, competitions etc) most afternoons. We were right by a bus stop and had a lovely pool view room.

It's about a 10 min slow walk to the main building however. Have a look on the SSR map as there are several great areas to stay :)

We're staying at SSR in April. We stayed OKW last year and the only thing that stopped me choosing it again, was the lack of a food court. We knew about it before we booked and decided it wasn't really a big deal, but after arriving we found it quite tedious at breakfast time. The days we didn't have character breakfasts booked we had to get something at parks. The resort is lovely though x

The one beds at OKW sleep 5 whereas the one beds at SSR only sleep 4 meaning you would need a 2 bed.

We love OKW - they are the biggest DVC rooms and the resort has such a relaxed vibe.

It only has a QS window but that doesn't bother us as we either have a character breakfast or we do a shop at Publix and I do breakfast in the room. We have never really eaten at QS for breakfast.
