Who has been in the parks the Fri, Sat, Sun after Thanksgiving?

How bad is it? I could probably be persuaded to avoid MK if I had to. :(

I believe that we'll be able to stay some of the following week too (maybe until Wed. Dec. 1), but I'm so worried about those first few days that are right after Thanksgiving.

Anyone think I'm crazy?

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

There is no easy way to say this. The parks are crazy during that time frame. If you take advantage of early entry and fast pass you should be fine, though.

I was at EPCOT Future World on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2003. I couldn't believe the number of people there at 10am. I didn't plan well, though. I just moved to the World Showcase instead and that was easier.

I went no where near MK on those days.

Good luck with this,

Katholyn

yeah...I was afraid that I would have to avoid MK. Thanks so much for the warning!! :)

We had a GREAT time over Thanksgiving this past year. We stayed at the WL, which made the trip even more special.

We had a good plan (which is crucial). Here's what we did:

Arrived Wed- MK- we got there about 10:30 and stayed until around 1pm. It was crowded, but we managed with FP. We went back to the WL adn our room wasn't ready. *****Make sure to wear bathing suit under your clothes to enjoy the pool while waiting for your room!!!!

Thurs- We did Epcot adn it was great. Did FW and as soon as it was 11am we were at the WS. Stayed until about 2 or 3, tehn headed back to WL for a swim. Had Thanksgiving dinner at Chef Mickey's-awesome-about 5:30pm-was not crowded at all!

Fri-MGM- had a great time here. did have to wait for our PS at Sci-Fi. Epcot at night -dinner at Teppanyaki- a bit of a wait-but crowds were fine.

Sat- AK-freezing!!!! Not at all crowded, but we go opposite the crowds in this park (we do dinoland first- Works every time)

Sun- MK early entry- was great!!!! We did leave about 1pm.
Did MVMCP that night- big mistake-we were wiped out!!!!
Tips- get to the parsk EARLY!!!! Avoid MK thurs-SAt.

In 2000 I didn't think the parks were too crazy those days. We only had a short trip so there wasn't an option to avoid the parks. Planning is the key and being prepared for the crowds.

Susy-
Was the MVMCP a bad idea because you were wiped out, or because it was crowded. I ask only because we are hoping they will offer one this year the Sun. after Thanksgiving so we can go. We aren't planning to do anything on Sunday except that party, if they have it. Will we be OK?

We went this year and I would say that it was as busy as summer times, maybe a little less. We got in Friday afternoon and went to MGM. 2 showings of Fantasmic. We went to the second and there were 2 completely empty sections. The lines were okay that night, got a little less crowded during the first Fantasmic, as usual. Went to Epcot on Saturday. Not that bad, really. We went into the WS as soon as it opened and managed to see every single storyteller. We went on all the rides and saw the Candlelight Processional from the standing-room only section. Definitely will be getting the package for that so that we can get a seat. Went to MK on Sunday and stayed for MVMCP. Got everything done many times and never noticed any significantly long lines.

All in all, I would say that it was busy, but I have seen it busier in the summer time. It was quite nice to be there and not have the oppressingly hot weather!

Thank you all so much. I really appreciate all the info & advice. ;) Gotta get good use out of the AP's whenever you can, you know?

We are also planning on heading to Disney after Thanksgiving. We will probably not get there till Saturday or Sunday and will probably not go into the parks until the Monday after Thanksgiving and will be there till the following Saturday. Does anyone know how busy the parks would be then? We are also planning on attending one of MVMCP during the week - if there is one. We usually go to Disney about twice a year - we are usually there the week between Christmas and New Years and the place is packed. I want to take my parents to see all the Christmas decorations but I don't think they could handle the crowds late in December. We have a time share that we must check into before November 30 or we lose it so I figured the week after Thanksgiving would be a good time.

Thanks for all the wonderful help on these boards.

Linda

The week after should be no problem. We're going down on the 23rd and leaving the 30th. Looks like maybe no MK for us on Thanksgiving. Maybe EE then leave before lunch. I'm hoping that the Wed before Thanksgiving and the Sun and Mon after are not too crowded. We also are hoping for MVMCP that Sunday. Loved it last year. And can't wait for CP. Gotta love those APs.

nativetxn...Katholyn- I can't believe we were there at the same time!! I would have loved to have met you! :( You are such an angel....::yes::

Even when it is busy, I don't worry about it! BECAUSE I'm at Disney, and nothing else matters!! Granted it was absolutely freezing, but it definitely beat the heat and humidity that we are used to in the Spring there.

We hit Epcot WS in the morning on the Friday post-Thanksgiving. The crowds were heavier, but not uncontrollable. We stayed until about 1pm and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at the Studios. We arrived for lunch and in time to see the afternoon parade - then Mulan. We ended or night with Fantasmic (first show) and Osbourne Lights (currently not scheduled). It was a magnificent ending to our vacation. We departed Saturday morning so I have no insight past Friday.

I had anticipated returning to WDW this year for T'giving, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will happen for us after all. I think it's a spectacular time to be at WDW. The transformation to the festive holiday decorations by week's end makes for a memorable experience.

We were there Sat-Fri after Thanksgiving in 2002. I didn't find the Thanksgiving weekend crowds to be bad. Of course, it was even less crowded from Mon-Fri, but even Thanksgiving weekend didn't come close to the crowds we've experienced during peak season (Easter/summer).
