Had an amazing time, very exhausting trip full of ups and downs! Took my family out of our element and we survived!

A few things that surprised us, we were at the Fort from August 21st to the 29th tent camping, we were at site 2039 and with the exception of the weekend we had no one around us, it was like our own private oasis!

Animal sightings were phenominal!

We brought a fan for each of our 2 tents and only used them twice and when we did we had to turn off mid night cause we were cold. Don't get me wrong it was hot during the day, but when your at the parks going in and out of air condition you don't even feel it. Myrtle Beach was way hotter and more humid!

The bathrooms are cleaner then mine at home, my family were way spoiled! When we went to Myrtle Beach state park after Disney my daughter started crying about the bathrooms at Myrtle Beach, full of centapede's and spiders!

Definetly would camp again, minus the drive. We have driven straight through before (24 hrs) and we broke this trip into 3 days down, 3 days back with camping in between and found it way more exhausting. Hind sight we would have been better off staying the full 12 days at Disney! We really didn't like the 2 state parks in Myrtle Beach we stayed at!

I am really missing the boat whistle! The frogs crocking at night and the owl hooting!

Wow, motherof, Ontario CA is a long way to go.

Loop 2000 has its good points. Your site sounds like it was in the back near the second Comfort Station; Did you find the shortcut behind your site past the Creekside Meadow (group camping) Comfort Station with the little bridge across the canal to get you into loop 900? It's a shortcut to the Meadow Trading Post and Pool area.

How was the weather for you (rain or no)?

Loop 2000 is unique in that when EPCOT has its Illuminations show you can hear its fireworks and when MK has its fireworks show you can hear them too. And mostly in the mornings we could hear the boat whistles too. Guess you hear the whistles in the evening?

Welcome home! :surfweb:

Howdy neighbour! We're driving down in 5 weeks from tomorrow.. From Orillia! Only, we're in a cabin at FW, and driving straight through to get there. glad your family had such an awesome time!

I don't know how you do it! We just went to DL by flying from Detroit because Toronto was too expensive - and the worst part of our trip was the drive from Oshawa to Detroit! I've done the drive three times (to FL) but they were twice as a kid and once as a starving student on spring break. We vowed never again. I'd love to do a three week drive to FL sightseeing kind of trip for my son, but I just dread being in a car that long.

With 10 of us going, we would be broke just trying to get off the tarmack, if we flew! :rolleyes1

But realistically, we have 6 adults, all able to drive. We all enjoy being in the car.. Except my kids can't STAND being bored. last time we did the drive, my boys were 2 & almost 4, and we were in a mini-van with a built in dvd player.. we could ALL recite the words to Finding Nemo by the time we got to FL! :lmao:

Now they're DS8 & DS9, with my two nephiews at 12 & 13.. One Vehicle's leaving on the wednesday, and stopping at night, while we're leaving Thursday night and driving straight through.. (DH has to work Thursday, and this'll save us some $$ by not having to get a hotel room or two each night.)

It'll be an adventure, at least... Just hope that I'm still sane when we get back! :dance3:

We found the short cut just one site up from us and used it all the time! Kinda creepy at night though!

We had the second comfort station all to ourself most of the time, it was lovely!

We also ended up extending our time at the Fort by one night and I was
going to push my husband for 2 nights but was afraid he way say no! He just told me last night he would of went for 2, oh well!

Heard both Epcot and MK fireworks and the boat whistle mostly in the AM, which became our alarm clock, but also heard it late in the evening!

The weather was lovely, afternoon showers most days, which cooled things down for a while and our last 2 days was sunny all day!

Thanks, it is good to be home, but I miss the Fort! We were very spoiled there! I don't think we will be able to look at our local camp grounds in the same light again!

Found the drive much more exhausting splitting it up! We have done straight through and kids slept most of the way! This time they were well rested and awake the whole drive! Need to do it when they all have there drivers license and can take turns !

Really good stuff, isn't it !

I'm bet'n your work'n on making your next reservations, :thumbsup2

Hubby said he would do it again, but when the boys all can take part in driving, that's only 2 years away! Next summer we are going to the East coast to visit family, so I will start putting the bug in his ear for the following summer and convince him the full two weeks is what we need to do! Love, Love, Love the Fort!

Lots of time before our kids'll have their license, but that's ok.. Hubby's working the say we leave, then coming home for a nap. we're going to leave about 9pm, figure the kids will be up and excited until about the time we hit the border.. then they'll crash, and it'll be smooth driving from there! :drive:

We were there almost the same days as you - the 18th-29th! I also thought the weather was great and actually had to go outside every morning to warm up from the A/C in the popup!

We were serenaded by a crazy crowd of frogs our first night - I actually have a recording of it because they were so loud!

Saw lots of wildlife too - tons of birds, ducks in our campsite, a cardinal family at our site, more squirrels than we could count, turkeys, an armadillo, deer and even a gator (a little one) in one of the canals!

I also said the bathrooms were cleaner than ours at home! LOL. Only thing I didn't like about them was that, at least in our comfort station (500 loop) the automatic flushers were kind of positioned behind your head, so if you moved your head at all, the toilet flushed!

Not to sure on how many photo's I can post, I should look that up! So one more, one of the reason's we didn't like camping at Myrtle Beach so much was above, Golden Silk Spider, they were everywhere and huge, yuck!

Not sure about a maximum number of pics...but it has to be a lot. Post away! Glad you had a great trip!
