Beef tongue recipes

:scared: My Mom used to force that on us at least once a month, I remember being TRAUMATIZED by that thing on a serving plate... :scared1:

Ugh, I can't imagine voluntarily eating that thing, sorry Ma.

We all have different taste memories. Certain dishes resonate differently for us all. For me the taste of tongue sandwiches, and chilled head cheese are two of my fondest childhood memories. And yes, head cheese is what it sounds like!

Don't know about cooking it for people, but I can tell you that it's just about the best crab bait in the universe. If you're near an ocean, see if you can use it to get yourself something REALLY yummy!

I remember when I was about 7 or 8 I was at a friend of mine's house and her parents made beef tongue. To this day I remember this as the worst thing I have ever eaten. :lmao:

I LOVE hogs head cheese. My dad told me that it USED to be mad of brains but these days its gelatin that gives it the consistancy.

The consistency used be gotten from boiling down the bones in the head. Gelatin is a powdered form of boiled down bones. Pretty much the same thing. You do know that your favorite Jello desert is made of pulverized animal bones, right? Doesn't that sound yummy? ;)

Oh and no one seems to have any problem eating cow parts other than the tongue? What conceptually is the difference? Now I understand if you just don't like it, but a lot of you seem unwilling even to try.

Lots of people eat bacon but will NOT eat chitterlings.. :lmao:

The difference for me is visual:

STEAK: :woohoo:

I agree Robinrs- When I saw that tongue picture my stomach rolled and I gagged. I don't like food that resembles a body part.
