Beef recall.. Don't know if this has been posted yet or not..

Yes, I have friends of my son coming over tonight to help put up some sheetrock in my kitchen and I was going to make chili. Now I don't know what to make for them that is cheap enough for 5 25-30 year olds that won't cost me a bundle. Can't make spagetti and meatballs, no chili, no meatloaf. Can't afford steak , and chicken is too much of a mess when I have no kitchen walls and a basement utility sink.
And no pizza, we are all sick of that.

Uhoh, better check the ground beef in the freezer. I think I got it at Shaws about a month ago. :scared1:

Remember that E. coli can be killed by throughly cooking meat to a temperature of 160 degrees, and not eating hamburger that is still pink in the middle.

Wow, I'm sitting here ready to go make sloppy joes and burgers on the grill to use the ground beef up that's in our fridge. I am in the northeast and purchased this beef at one of the listed stores. Thankfully, the date is nowhere near close, though.

I have meatballs in the freezer (name brand is Farm Rich) I was planning on putting in spaghetti tonight. I have no idea where they got their ground beef at! :scared:

ETA: I just called the company and they claim their suppliers are not thru the company involved in the recall.

Never Mind.

I thought it said Beer Recall.

Now that would be a crisis! :rotfl:Just kidding, I take any meat recall seriously and I'm sorry for those who were affected, it's sad...
thanks for posting, C.Ann!

So glad the commissary grinds their own beef! Don't have to worry about this at all.

Just bumping this up for the late evening crowd.. Better to be safe than sorry.. :)

Price Chopper actually called us 2 days ago because their records showed we had purchased hamburg during the timeframe. It was an automated phone call.

I've bought hamburg at 2 of the mentioned stores in the time frame mentioned. However, we've used some of it, and repackaged & froze the rest of it. So, without the original packaging, we don't know if its part of the recall. Something I never thought of before.

DH & I decided that since we've already eaten some of it, and we weren't sick, combined with the fact that I always cook hamburg thoroughly, that we aren't concerned about the hamburg we still have remaining. Cooking thoroughly was mentioned as ok on the news.

I may however, reconsider how I repackage & label meats when I split & freeze the packages.
