Bedwetting...

My sons doctor reccomended we try the "sleep dry alarm" and we did. It worked after a few months. Doctor said the brain and the bladder are not communicating at night. Just before the alarm we did go to disney and took along the good nights and did as others suggested by limiting fluids two hours before bed, just in case we did take a disposable mattess pad. Much to our relief the good nights were enough with limiting the fluids at night. Check your local medicl supply shop, they sell the disposable mattress pads or chucks.

For this child bedwetting is a gamete of issues.... First he is fetal alcohol, reactive attachment, they believe there is some kind of emotional link to the bedwetting as he will just lay in it... for example when young children bed wet they then get up quickly once the wake to realize their solid and don't like the feeling then tell and adult he won't he will lay in bed awake and not say a thing or get up and leave the sheets and do nothing about the fact there is a mess. He is the sib to my foster sons and has been in care since he was an infant came to our home 4 yrs ago after breakdowns in his two other home both we had active relationships with in order to keep the sibs connected. So the bed wetting is a bigger issue than the normal kinds other families deal with.

Given this information, I do not know if this would be a good choice for this child, and I would say ask his doctor or therapist or someone, but I wanted to tell you about this product because I didn't know it was out there.

They make bedwetting alarms... the one we used was a small little clip that hooks on the outside of the undies and then the little alarm pinned to his shirt by his shoulder.... as soon as it senses wetness, it sets off the alarm... wakes the child... I guess it teaches the brain to recognize that feeling... anyway, I was skeptical but when I was washing sheets every day and nothing was working, I thought why not. It worked AMAZINGLY well... again... no idea if this is right in your situation, but just sharing the info. I got mine at the bedwetting store but I think amazon has them also.

I realize this doesn't help you while at Disney necessarily.. but I didn't know such a thing existed. Good luck! You can message me or ask if you want more information... :goodvibes

My daughter's goodnight leaked one night during our stay a few years ago. I immediately pulled the sheets off the bed and called mouse keeping. It took a while but they brought us fresh sheets without a problem and scooped the wet sheets into a plastic bag. I think if it happens once or twice it wont be a problem but I'd try to bring some type of disposable bed protector like other's have suggested.

sorry to jump in but did mouse keeping steam clean the mattress too? or are you saying there's probably residual pee on many of the beds at WDW? This whole thread is making me feel a little scared of public beds.

I was thinking about these I'm not sure if they will hold the amount of urine he releases at night but thought a trial of it at home before we go might be good. Just have to see where I can find them in canada.

Try the external condom catheter - my friend had a son with this problem and it saved her from having to travel with pull-ups, bed protection, etc. It held everything!

No, but there was a mattress cover on the bed and it didn't go through that (the bed wasnt wet) they did replace the mattress cover too. That's what the mattress covers are for.

This is in response to the did they steam the mattress question. I'm new to this and not sure how to copy the previous comment.

Oh thank goodness. I'm feeling better now knowing that. Thank you for the reply.

You could also bring a plastic shower curtain to put under the chuxpad, just to keep the rest of the bed dry. It wouldn't be too comfortable to sleep on, but may also be a deterrent to wetting.

For pullups, you can also get a liner to go in it (depends brand makes them) that would make the diaper more absorbant. You could also put plastic pants on over the diaper.

We have a dd who is 7 and has had betwetting issues for a long time. We finally talked to her dr. and he recommended two things. One was the Stay Dry alarm and it's been fabulous. We use it in conjunction with the Good Nights bed pads and it's now very rare when she has an accident.

He did prescribe a medication for when we went on a trip right after our dr. visit. He knew the alarm would not be in just yet, but knew the difficulties we would face in a hotel. It works great too! Hopefully you can find some answers soon.
