Day 11 Sunday 21st August 2011- Epcot.
We woke up early as we had an early ADR for Kona Cafe today.
The first thing we did was check the monorail system was running-thankfully it was.
After getting ready we caught the monorail to the Poly and checked in to Kona cafe.
I got coffe and juice to begin with.
I had planned on just getting the Macadamia nut pancakes when I came here. however after eating breakfast at Ohanas the other day Matt & i both went for the big kahuna.
I know the pancakes in the big kahuna arent the macadamia nut ones but i knew Luke would probably get pancakes-so we could swap with his. we did check first and he preferred the plain ones.
Nicky=Big Kahuna - French toast, Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes, eggs- (I got over easy) home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage
Matt=Big Kahuna - French toast, Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes, eggs (scrambled) home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage
Luke=Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes - with macadamia nut butter, pineapple sauce and your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. Luke got ham.
I think we all enjoyed breakfast, I perhaps should have stuck with my original thought of just getting the pancakes as we were all too full to finish. We were getting towards the end of the holiday, so I was starting to figure out our final credits. We had intended to pay for this OOP as it a cheaper meal but had 1 credit left over, so used it here. I had meant to get Luke a kids meal at sci fi last night and use the other credit here but forgot.
Kona Cafe breakfast was the last thing we added to our original ADR's as I really wanted to try it. Im glad we did as I enjoyed it.
We then planned to go to Epcot but as were going to be there late tonight for the fireworks, So decided to head back to the hotel.
After relaxing for a bit we then caught the monorail to Epcot
We started off by going on Spaceship Earth, we then headed for Test track to see if it was working
Thankfully it was so we headed through the queue, near the end we were taken through to the disabled access area. it was a bit of a maze to get to it-you get on just after the area where you should get on. As the car was heading round they asked if we'd like to go on it twice. Of coure we said yes!
I said that would be great, as it was broken when we tried to do it the other day. I knew it would be the only time we'd do it this holiday. Test Track is my favourite ride at Epcot. Luke & Matt love it too-although they keep saying its just like being in the car with me driving !
I did however think theyd really tamed the ride down.
Matt then really wanted to go on........
Its a 45 minute ride and by the time it was open we were ready to go on it. It was boiling outside. This was a boring ride and dont think id be doing it again in a hurry. its probably a nice ride to do later in the day when you need a rest out of the sun.
It was lunchtime so we decided to get something to eat. We had originally intended to eat at Beaches & Cream however knew we wouldnt manage it and didnt fancy the walk in the heat. So we headed for Sunshine seasons.
pictures arent great but wanted to add them in for me
Nicky-beef, vegetables & noodles-nice flavours.
Strawberry shortcake-yummy and fresh.
Matt-Cashew chicken,noodles & rice. This was good
Cookie
luke- s&s chicken, rice & noodles
cookie
We then went on Living with the land and Soaring again before heading to Turtle talk with Crush
We looked around the seas
It was so hot and we'd been very bad at stopping for something to drink, so we got these to cool us down.
We then started to make our way to Germany, looking at the other countries along the way. We had an ADR for Biergarten and checked in, it took them sbout 10 minutes to actually find our ADR and check us in.
We were called fairly quickly after that and were seated with a family of 4. We werent really introduced to each other as we were seated near the entrance. So we just said Hi, we didnt really talk as the server came over and took the drinks order. As soon as she was gone the other family rushed off to pile their plates up with food. The server brought the drinks and then we went to get some food. When we came back the other family went and got their desserts and asked for the bill when they got back and went soon after. It felt like they were only there for about 15 minutes-I thought it was a waste considering how much it cost to eat there. So we never really got much of a chance to talk to them.
Biergarten was Matts choice as he loves the type of food you get here. I thought it was ok, nice to try. I really wanted to order a Beer here but didnt in the end, the entertainment was good, it was nice to have music playing when eating.
When we left the restaurant we went clockwise looking in the shops along the way.
In the UK shop Luke had to hide under his Goofy hat as I was talking in lots of UK accents and really embarrassed him.
We then went to find somewhere to sit and wait for the fireworks-Illuminations:Reflections of Earth.
I really loved the fireworks-even more than Wishes. I think its probably due to the fact i'd seen Wishes nearly every night on the holiday.
When the fireworks were finished caught the monorail back to the hotel.
