Beds at resorts

Just curious about the beds at the different villas. We usually stay offsite, and were lucky enough to stay in AKL concierge this past Oct. for a few nights, but the beds were hard as a rock. I prefer softer beds, and was very happy when we got to the Sheraton to find better beds. Loved everything else about the resort though I am looking at booking into a villa my next trip and just wanted some input from the ones that own at Disney.

Remember that Disney, while "adverstising" itself as a "Deluxe" hotel provider has traditionally fallen short on things like beds.

None of the Disney beds come close to the Starwood (Shearton) product. If that's what you expect you will be disappointed.

The beds do tend to be on the "hard side". They have recently made small upgrades to the sheets and pillows but basically what you got at AKL is pretty much standard.

Thanks for the info. The funny thing to me is that they were advertising a mattress in the brochure in the room, yet if the bed that I slept on was their selling point I am not impressed. Yeah... the Sheraton beds are great. Just want something a bit nicer to sleep on, but I will suffer to just stay at Disney for a week. I was really hoping the villas had nicer beds, but that's okay.

Yeah that always cracks me up. Only Disney would advertise "what we should be giving you for these prices" as opposed to "what we gave you"

Disney misses everything on "Deluxe" but "pricing" and they have that down to an art. I have compared prices with the Orlando Ritz to Disney "Deluxe" and the Ritz is generally cheaper. (And it has GREAT beds!)

Its like the three bears though - I've never found a Disney bed that was firm enough for my taste.

At home I have a sleep number bed - yep, set to 95. A softer bed feels wonderful to lie in, but I wake up with backaches.

Speaking of beds...
Do you know if the "queen" size beds at BWV are truely that or are they really the smaller full size sometimes called a queen?

Depending on when you come down, I did notice in the models that the BLT beds seem a whole lot softer than the ones at AKV. Of course, those the model beds, no telling what they will really be.

We stayed in a 2 BR at Old Key West this past December. The bed in the master BR was like concrete. I thought it was very uncomfortable, but we still had a great stay.

It's not just the "hardness or softness" that makes the Disney beds fail the "deluxe" standard out there now.

It's the quality of the linens, the "comfortor" vs bedspread, the threadcount of the sheets, the quality of the pillows etc. The entire package is not up to the industry standard right now. Yes, the new pillows and stuff are nicer but still a grade or two behind.

I agree. When I travel for business I stay at Hiltons and Hyatts. And Disney isn't even coming close. And Hiltons and Hyatts are nice hotels, but they aren't GREAT hotels.

Our bed was horrible at OKW this past trip and so were the sheets. The bed was hard and my wife and I rolled into each other in the center. We even tried flipping the mattress after the first night but it was no better. We ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa sleeper which ironically was much better. We also went to Kohls and bought some new sheets for home that we used the rest of our stay. On the way home to Indiana, we stayed at a Hampton Inn and to our surprise, their mattress and bedding was wonderful. My wife commented we should have saved the $20,000 we gave to DVC and just used it to stay at Hampton Inns on vacations.
