My parents are finally letting me redecorate my room :cool1: and I'm stumped on a theme..... I know I want a Disney theme but it seems like all my ideas would be too childish for a teens bedroom.

So far for ideas I have:
Little Mermaid Theme: I was thinking of painting just the outline of Ariel on the wall with pictures from the movie in frames hung on the wall.

A Vintage Mickey Theme: Pretty self explanatory, I was going to only use red, black, grey and white as colors and paint a Mickey head on the wall and maybe put framed Mickey pictures on the wall.

Princess Theme: I would paint one of the stained glass pictures from the opening of Beauty and the Beast and put a princess outline on either side of it and maybe paint Cinderella castle above my bed.

The only other idea I came up with was painting a big movie reel on my wall with clips from my favorite movies on it and have my favorite characters through out the room as if they came out of the reel but as much I'd love to do it I feel its way to childish for a teen bedroom....

So I'd love to see any other ideas you might have!! And thanks to anyone who read my whole post, sorry it was so long!

Hmmmm... The vintage Mickey sounds good..... Idk how much you want to do, but you could do your walls in layers... For example, maybe a streak of yellow on bottom, red above(with dots of yellow like mickey's pants) white, and then black... Maybe do Mickey Mouse's gloves... Something else could be almost like a vintage mickey, but more of a Steamboat Willie. Black and white with splashes of color here and there. You could put replicas of the old posters that they used to advertise Steamboat Willie. For the last theme you were thinking about, you could do a Hollywood theme. Put like a red carpet in your room, posters of Walt Disney and Disney characters, and typical items you would see on a movie set like the directors chair and megaphone. You could also do old Hollywood. I had a teacher whose classroom was Pirates of the Caribbean. She had the bottom of the walls paint like wood from a ship and then above that was the water. She had pictures of Johnny Depp and other cast members framed in the room, a pirate hat, jewels, a life size Davey Jones, etc. If that's too childish, customize it. I know someone who simply has a lot of shelves in here room, so each shelf is a different Disney theme. She has a pirate shelf, a princess theme, and a general Mickey Mouse theme. On the Pirate theme she has a necklace like the one from the first movie, pictures of her at Disney Parks with pirate stuff, and jewelry. The princess theme has old autographs books, pictures, and like these little sculptures. Well, the Mickey Mouse theme is everything she has Mickey! I hope this helps!

I am also thinking to redo my room with my own thread. Disney Room Design is what it is called. You can search it. Some people have given me some good ideas. But a few of them really stood out. One of them was to find disney 1000 piece puzzles and such and put them together then glue the to a board and put them in a photo fame. Also, you can go with the vintage disney thing and have silhouetes of your favorite characters framed around the room.

I like the vintage Mickey idea, you can never go wrong with the original Mickey...! :rotfl:

I love the Ariel thing, with her shillouette on a wall, lots of throw pillows, stuffed turtles, sheer blue curtains, etc. Sounds like it would be fun, and trust me, no room is ever too childish. I just went from dancing flowers bedroom, to surf shack, beach theme bedroom, and it's as childish as can be, but I like it! It doesn't help that I have my little mermaid porceline dolls and my breyer horses on shelves.

I really keep leaning toward that theme and I love the idea of curtains and lots of pillows!!

Thanks so much!! I really love the vintage Mickey ideas and I hadn't really thought about a Hollywood theme!! That sounds great!!

Thank you everyone for all the great replies!! I've got a lot of deciding to do :D

I like the vintage Mickey idea best, but I'm sort of a Mickey fanatic--so I suppose that won't help you much. :rotfl: I think the Little mermaid concept is especially cool, like you'd acually be under the sea(Ohh I fail). I like the idea of lots of pillows and the ocean colors.

I'm redecorating my room as well, with the anything Mickey theme. I'm not painting the walls, but I'll have lots of posters, figurines, plushes, etc...sort of let the merchandise make the room!:smickey:

Best of luck! I hope you enjoy your new room!
