I just read a post that Disney Resorts DO NOT CHNAGE the comforters at check outs. It's more like monthly. Does anyone else find this disgusting or am I being Paranoid.
I mean we DON'T know what goes on!
GROSS:earsgirl: :earsboy:

It isn't only Disney that changes them once a month. Most hotels follow those standards. And yes, I find it gross. Since I found that out I take the comforter off my bed and put it in the corner.

This subject seems to pop up every few months or so. LoL It's interesting to read other people's take on it though. We always remove the comforter from the bed now. I guess I must be paranoid right along with you because just the thought of that dirty thing touching me or my children makes my skin crawl. I know all the stories about how costly it is to wash them so often that they wear out sooner but I think it's pretty costly to stay in those deluxe hotels too.

Uh, that is disgusting. All kinds of stuff can go on -on those comforters when the beds are made.... and I'm not even thinking dirty (although I could go there-that's gross too) but things like people changing diapers there, etc.

I did not know this about hotels.. I assumed that when bedding was changed it meant ALL the bedding. How disgusting. I'll be asking them to just remove our bedspreads on our next trip (GF).

I keep thinking about this also. I'm a bit of a germophobic I think b/c whenever I travel I take along the chlorox wipes to disinfect everything!;) Bathroom fixtures, doorknobs etc. I don't usually go away for more than 2 or 3 nights so I don't mind ditching the blankets and comforters for a short stay. However, next year we will be staying at WDW for 10 nights:eek: Iwill definitely need clean blankets and comforters! No ands, ifs or buts! I was thinking of asking when I check in if they could arrange to change my blankets and comfortors to "clean" ones. After all, we are paying quite a bit for our stay so I would think this would not be asking too much. Or if my DH is too embarrassed by me asking for this I figure I will just go to the laundry and wash them myself. It will cost me a few dollars and about an hour of my time, but imo will be time and money well spent for peace of mind! And to think I thought I was the only one with these gross thoughts.
P.S. Don't forget to use the disinfecting wipes on the "T.V. remote control"!;)

That is pretty much hotel standard..we are lucky to get them changed monthly.

My question is how would you really know if you got a freshly cleaned one or not...???

Many moons ago as a teen i was a chambermaid at a local 110 room hotel. There was no way laundry could handle washing even half of them in a day,we had some backup bed spreads in case of a must change situation.I have always believed that all hotels do this including disney. When we check in a hotel i pull the spread to the bottom of the bed that is where it stays!.When i sleep in a hotel the only thing that touches my body is the sheet i love hotels that double sheet so i dont have to touch the blanket.

This thread hits close to home. I'm quite a "cootie" hater myself. I also bring disinfectant wipes, but usually only manage to clean the bathrooms with them. As for the blankets etc. I figured they weren't washed after each guest. I love the double sheeted beds, which is one of the reasons I enjoy the Loew's hotels. What I try to do when that's not available is pull the top sheet up as high as possible and fold it over the blanket so it's not touching my neck. I think it's interesting how this kind of thing matters alot to some of us and not at all to others. It's the farthest thing from my husband's mind and he thinks I'm silly to worry about it. I say, why should I have to share personal items like bedding with folks I don't know? Here's to being cautious!

here is what we do: once we get in our room, we'll "mark" the underside corners of the comforter and blankets using a pen with a little "X" - then we'll call housekeeping & ask for them to be replaced - we'll remove both the comforter & blankets ourselves & leave them in a neat pile near the door - that way, when you return & there are "new" comforters & blankets on your bed, you can tell if they're not the same ones you started with (otherwise, how would you really know if you didn't mark it yourself??)

of course, if you want REALLY fast service, say there's blood on it (a quick prick on your finger with a Disney pin ought to do it)

works for us....

Well, I did not know this. I thought that all bedding was changed between guests. You learn something new everyday. I am not 100% sure I wanted to know this though.

Ewwwwww!!

I like the idea of saying you got something on the comforters, both of them.

No telling what's on them.

I like that idea also, but do you do this for the both beds if there are 2 beds in the room? Even if there are double sheets on the bed you still have that blanket and comforter on top of you. I don't even like to sit on top of the comforter let alone sleep under it sheets in between or not. You really do not know what goes on on top of that comforter, not only the unmentionable stuff but people do gross things like pick their nose, clip toenails, sweat etc etc etc etc...just use your imagination! I really don't think I'm being too obsessed, I'm just being realistic. My husband thinks I get carried away too. I see it all the time in public restrooms how people do not wash properly(they just do a quick rinse under the water, no soap) or do not even wash at all. Straight outta the stall right out the door. UGH! That's why I won't touch a public bathroom door knob...ever!!!! So just imagine what poor habits go on inside that hotel room. I'm done now...Happy vacationing everyone!;)

Here we go about the bedspreads again! But just wanted to add that I saw a show on TV about hotel rooms and they say the worst thing in the rooms are the TV remotes!! They are NEVER
cleaned!! Put them tops over the spreads!!

Guess we'll just have to start carrying surgical gloves to change the tv channel from now on!

EEwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, I almost don't want to go to BWI in November. I am paying for concierge, get this, a little over a grand to have double sheets. My stomach is turning right now, this thread is so gross and a mean reminder for us all that enjoy going away. As much as I think of it I try my hardest to keep everything at bay when I am in a hotel room, lysol, wipes, never step barefood on a carpet, in the shower, GROSS :(

Not only is it disgusting but their are people who have severe allergies, asthma, and low immune systems. I'm one of these people and I knew nothing about hotels not changing the bedding. From now on, I know to request that my bedding be washed before I get to my room. Hopefully it will make my first trip to WDW a great one. :)

Well, we touch a lot of things with our hands that aren't clean... and we wash our hands before eating and such to try to lessen the degree of germs attacking us from our hands touching dirty things. BUT this is different in my opinion... my children changed into swimsuits and sat their NAKED boodies on the bedspreads to get the swimsuits on! Now I have no idea what my children put their naked behinds on- and think about what we left for the next guests! LOL Bedspreads that had had my children's naked butts on them...
Anyway, no remote controls touched my children's naked butts. Atleast not that I know of. LOL
