Bedbug avoidance

With all the talk about bedbugs lately I'm slightly apprehensive of using the drawers at hotels. I'm not paranoid really but bedbugs and lice are something I just don't think I could deal with. I can feel an eyelash when it lands on my cheek my skin is that sensitive so avoiding bitey itchy things is always my goal in life. LOL

Anyhoo, wandering through Target today I noticed something I want to share here with others who might be interested. I saw the hanging closet shelves and most of them have hooks so they'd be nice and portable. One of them had nice big shelves and will probably hold everything we would have put in the drawers!

Not sure it'll help at all, but like my wearing a hood at the movie theaters it will at least make me feel better.

Am still debating if I'll use the drawers for anything at all. LOL

I wouldn't use the drawers. I'd also keep my luggage in the bathroom on a vanity. I am really paranoid about this. I'd consider putting my clothes in packing bags in the suitcase too and leaving my luggage in the garage when i came home.

You're more paranoid than I am. ;) LOL

How often are we hearing that the bugs are in drawers? I'm just not sure.......and I sooo don't want to live out of my suitcase. I think my new hanging thing will work out well!

I am absolutely paranoid after my DS was bitten nearly 40 times in one night at a hotel in Georgia.

I would NEVER use the drawers. I also never put my suitcase on anything other than the bathroom counter. If I have to I hang the things I need. The suitcase stays zipped unless I'm in it at that moment.

I'm actually progressing towards keeping clothes in ziplocks in my suitcase. Currently, l just put the dirty clothes in plastic and keep them as separate as possible. Even then, everything, clean or dirty is immediately bagged in the garage and washed when returning home. Suitcases don't enter the house until emptied and inspected.

One bed bug incident was enough to last me a life time! And luckily I didn't bring any home. I talked about everything I did to ensure that on another bed bug thread. It was time consuming and costly but better than bringing bed bugs into the house!
