Bed sheets

don't use fabric softener is the best advice to combat pilling. downy just RUINS sheets

I usually go above 200. The higher the number, the softer (and more expensive!!) the sheets.

Really? I use Downy and have never noticed my sheets pilling..... I have one set that is a 'good' set. I can't tell you what the thread count is, but got them at Target, on sale(I think they were about 50 bucks on sale). Had to have them after staying at Dolphin!! Those heavenly beds ruined me for cheap sheets!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sheets confuse me too :confused3

I have 400 tc Egyptian cotton sheets. They feel great! I got a few sets at Target for $17 (!) on sale. That was the best sale I ever got at Target. :) :flower:

Just got some 6 oz flannel sheets from Lands End. They have an extra deep bottom sheet (my son's bed is a Eurotop, so it is 16" deep). These sheets are extra nice for winter.

I have some 350 thread counts from KMart-Martha Stewart's line and they are SO soft! I got them on clearance for $15 for a King flat and fitted ($7 each-+tax). I love them. THe key to good sheets is getting 100% cotton, it's the polyester that makes them pill!

I have 300 TC sheets from QVC's Northern Nights line. They are awesome. So soft and comfy. I have even taken the top sheet with me on vacation so I can lay on it, lol.

I am weird about my sheets

for years I have slept on satin sheets in the summer....much cooler than cotten....

We moved to our other master bedroom in our house and bought new everything.....and I got new sheets....one satin and one Egyptian cotten. The satin ones drove me crazy....to slick...my pillow moved with every move I made during the night...great way to prove that Dh is correct in the fact I move alot in my sleep....every time that pillow moved it woke me up!! I know love the 400 ct cotten Egyptian cotten sheets

I bought flannel sheets once and like the jersey ones, they pilled! And they were expensive!

Also, I can't use downy on sheets or underwear or my whole family starts itching. It's okay for us on outerwear, but anything else, nope.

I usually wash our sheets in hot water with bleach and detergent, no softener, and they're *really* soft after they come out.

I know, the bleach is probably going to shorten the lifespan of the sheets, but it's the only thing that gets out 'body soil' (thanks, clorox, for that image :confused3 ) and kills dust mites.

I like to dry them out on the back deck in the sunshine. Sheets dried in the sun, man, nothing smells better when you get into bed that night!

We should rename this thread "the sheet fetish thread!" It's so funny, now that I bought nice sheets, I can't imagine ever getting cheap ones again.

I wonder how many other freaky expensive things I'll discover I can't do without as I get older....

I have 1000 ct sheets I got from Overstock.com. I LOVE them! They are very thick, soft, smooth and well made. We've had them 1 1/2 years and they are still like brand new! They were $129 and worth every penny!
