I'm in the market for some new sheets. I know the higher the thread count the better, but do I need to know anything else? I'm confused because some sheets sets with a higher thread count are less expensive than those with lower counts.

Im a sheet snob. LOL

I got a great deal on 650 count sheets on Amazon and I love them! I dont want anything else now.

I think you have to chose between percale and Sateen and egyptian cotton, I think a lot of that is what the price depends on.

Thread count is important but so is fiber content. Anything with polyester, no matter what the thread count, is going to pill. Get 100% cotton and what ever thread count you prefer.

Try overstock.com--that's where we got 2 of our sets for a bargain and they are like 750 thread count and so AWESOME!!!!

:cool1: we just got some egyptian cotton sheets at Sam's club with 650 or highter thread count they are SO nice!!! and a great deal! :cloud9:

Does anyone have 400 thread count sateen sheets. What do you think of them?

I only buy egyptian cotton sheets. The more you wash them, the softer they get AND they are soft to begin with! I usually get 350 thread count (we get new sheets pretty often because we change duvet covers and want to match). Go to a store and FEEL the sheets before you buy (you don't have to buy there, but just so you can feel the difference between the kinds of sheets)

I do and I love them. I have turned into a sheet snob also. I got my first pair of 350 TC and now won't go below that. I also have a 500 TC that I bought from QVC but haven't put on the bed yet. I have me eye on a 100TC but waiting for them to go onsale. I have a King bed so anything is going to cost me $$$.

I saw BAMBOO sheets at Target today, anyone try those? they felt almost like a mix between Sateen and Egyptian. Very slick feel to them. I thought they might be rather nice actually.

Anyone heard anything?

Hmmm, I got some sateen sheets on clearance from Amazon, with a pretty high thread count. They wrinkle like crazy! I can't stand them. While I like how soft they are, I realized, I prefer the crispness & look of percale. They give the sheets more body & don't wrinkle.

I haven't seen those yet. I bought DS10 sheets from Bed Bath & Beyond that are made out of Beech tree fibers. They're kind of like t-shirt material, but much softer.

:thumbsup2

I bought a set of 800 thread count sheets on Overstock for $99 and they are terrific. So soft and durable.

I think mine are 300 count Egyption Cotton sheets. They are sooo soft and they last for ever, they really hold up well!

Well I just bought some QVC "Northern Nights" sheets. So we will see...Total cost including shipping was 125ish.

I bought 2 King sets....

Northern Nights Chloe 440TC 100% Cot. Solid Sateen Sheet Set (Light Plum)

Northern Nights Amanda 320TC Sheet Set with Hem Treatment (Seafoam)

OMG, I just bought these and slept on them for the first time last night!! I too have a King Size bed and am always looking for sheets on sale because these things can cost an arm and a leg!

These sheets are amazing! I love, love, LOVE them! I think they are softer than my Egyptian Cotton ones. I want to go back to Target to get them in another color...

I have a set of 450 TC and a set of 600 TC that I got from Overstock.com. I went by the reviews there- they are incredibly helpful. I actually like the 450 ones better, I think the 600 TC ones had some polyester in them because they've started to pill ever so slightly. I didn't notice it until I took them off to wash them so I guess that's good! It's just down by the bottom of the bed.

I'd still buy from overstock again in a heartbeat. We have a queen and I think the 450 TC ones were $49.99 and the 600's were $59.99.

I've also become a sheet snob after feeling my old roommate's sheets and realizing what I was missing!

I had told my mom about it and asked for 600 TC's for xmas last year- she gave me a "what are you talking about? thread count?" kind of look and said she didn't think it mattered. I went home and she has 1000 thread count sheets on her bed!! :rotfl2:

really? wow. Ok I will go pick them up. I felt them and they seemed really soft but its so hard to tell what the whole bed will feel like covered in them KWIM?

Thanks! that was a great clearance price on them.

I am definitely a bed linen snob and the best I ever owned were the Egyptian cotton (long thread) 1000 count sheet set. They lasted for well over 10 years and would still be going strong if not for Katrina.

We paid about 700.00 back then but they were the only sheets we have ever had to buy for our bed.

Try www.linensource. com for sheets and other items. They have great deals on high count sheet sets and pillowcases.

We always need more pillowcases since both my dh and I use multiple pillows on the bed.

We received 400 thread count sateen sheets for Christmas last year. They have a jacquard design though very slight. I love them and aspire to the day when we can go to an even higher thread count (within budgetary reason, of course). They are very nice, so much softer than the old ones that now I don't like using the older ones that are not high thread count. I take these off, launder and put them right back on. I am completely wearing them out!!
