Bed comfort at The Polynesian

Does anyone else find the beds to be very uncomfortable at The Polynesian? This may be true at other DVC resorts also, I do not know. I am not talking about the sofa bed, I almost expect that to be uncomfortable and in fact we do not find the sofa bed comfortable as a bed or as a sofa. However I mean the bed itself. It is very hard and lumpy. I slept in two different ones on this trip: one in a Standard View room and one in a Lagoon View room (they call it Lake View). Maybe it is just me, I don't know, but I wish the bed felt better. I end up with sore hips every night!

Does anyone else have this trouble, or do you just deal with it?

Thanks.

Well, I have only stayed there once for 5 nights, Dec 2016, but I had no problems with the bed or anything else. I enjoyed it very much.

I thought the bed was fine when we stayed in a LV studio in May. We actually remarked how comfy it was!

We have stayed at all but VFG and have not found any bed uncomfortable, can't say that about the sofa beds, none were much good. I think if you sleep on a foam, memory foam or sleep member at home, most Disney beds will feel too firm for you.

We sleep on a king size Tempur-Pedic at home. I have never been particularly comfortable in any hotel bed because I’m basically sleeping on a cloud at home. The only bed that came close was our bed at the Contemporary Resort. We will be staying at the Polynesian in July. I’m looking forward to seeing how comfortable it will be.

They are virtually if not actuality identical to all DVC beds. When you sleep on a foam bed at home a traditional mattress can be not as comfortable as they seemed before. But no, I don't think the PVB beds are lumpy or anything like that. Just traditional spring mattresses.

I have only stayed at the Poly once, but the mattress was great. I wonder if there was a problem with the specific mattress in your room?

Thanks for the responses. Maybe it is just my old age catching up to me. I seem to not be very comfortable on beds that have only a mattress but no box spring. I am glad to hear every one else has no problems with them. I am curious now however, do all DVC studios have beds with no box springs or is it just the Polynesian?

I think all others have box springs. Maybe the new refurbed studios don't at OKW though as they are also getting the same sort of platform bed. I guess Aulani has a similar bed so they may not either. Once you get the platform bed the box spring has to go away otherwise they'll need to add stairs. lol

DH and I did a resort hoping vacay Jan 18th - 21st. Poly was the 1st stop. We both hated the bed. It was rock hard. It was the only complaint we had. We then went on to Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. Beds were so much softer. Slept awesome in both places.

I hate the beds at PVB. Like sleeping on a board. I was there for 3 nights in Oct followed by 2 nights at BWV. The difference between the beds was night & day. I sank into the super soft beds at BWV & slept like a baby. PVB I tossed & turned all night for the entire stay.

I've only stayed once at Poly in a studio last May with my daughter. I found the queen sized bed to be way too soft, sinking down in the middle. I tried the sofa bed but that was uncomfortable too. Changed back to the queen, but even my daughter (who is 29 and very slim) found the queen to be uncomfortably soft.

We stayed at the Poly in December and found the beds to be painfully hard. I have back problems and travel with a memory foam mattress topper. The bed was almost unbearable even with the mattress topper. My DH is much more flexible about bed comfort and he had a horrible time as well. I think it comes from the fact there is no box spring but the wooden bed frame. We stayed at BCV on the same stay and had no issues. We won't book the Poly again since we found the beds to be physically painful.

We just returned yesterday from a stay at Poly and after the first night I said to my DH "I really thought these beds would be more comfortable than this". The bed was too hard for this Goldilocks and I usually prefer a firm mattress.

Have stayed at the Poly three times in a studio and we have had no problem with the bed.
Have really enjoyed our stays there! :goodvibes

Just stayed there the beginning of Jan. I found the beds to be fine but didnt sleep well due to noise. Could hear doors slam all night and toilets flush.

After 2 nights at Poly, we switched over for 2 nights at Coronado Springs and got a renovated room where that bed was awfully hard and uncomfortable. Room was quiet though.

We have stayed at many of the DVC resorts, and would agree that the Poly bed felt rock hard compared to the others. Maybe we just drew a bad card...

I am not sure BLT has box springs as it has that metal platform bed. And it is a very comfortable bed.
