Bed Bugs...

I know this has been ask before... I did search but cant pin point me to the right directions...

-what to look for in a room for signs of bed bugs

-if you took a bed bug to your house how do you kill it

-precationary measures that you need to know and do ones you get in a hotel room to avoid the chance of bringing a bug home...

I went through a bed bug scare at a hotel recently (thankfully I was only allergic to the detergent they used on the sheets) and talked at length with the manager after I got home.

One thing to look for is there "left behinds". Pull back the blankets and see if you see any remains. They should be dark little balls of sorts. That will let you know if there were any before.

I would also call the hotel ahead of time and see what their policy and procedure to deal with bed bugs are. If they have one, they are probably clean. I would be afraid of those who don't.

I've heard they are attracted to heat, so if you blow dry the mattress they should come out of hiding. The other thing to look for is red smears in the seams of the mattress. I hate that this is a routine we have to go through when checking into hotels now.

We had them at a park and fly at Newark. It was gross, my son was tossing and turning all night, keeping the rest of us up.

In the morning, I pull back the blankets and there was blood all over. I almost had a stroke. Apparantly, they bleed alot when you kill them.

It turned out that they were in our bed however, we did not feel them.

I ended up getting this horrible rash on my legs.

It took a trip to the walk in center in Disney a visit to the ship doctor and another trip to the doctor at home to make the rash disappear.

The whole ordeal was traumatizing.
