Well the day is approaching quickly, yup the day I propose to my girlfriend, planned for January 1st at the parks. I guess a little background might make this more interesting LOL...we met in head start (4 years old) and something brought us together immediately LOL, I know sounds weird but we actually "dated" until we were about 10 years old and I think our folks got tired of driving us around, not to mention other parental "issues" Anywho we fell in and out of touch for years and I finally tracked her down again last November after which we have been in constant contact, went on a cruise this summer and she moved down here a few months ago. I had been planning on proposing at one of the parks but each time I get an idea something comes up that crushes the idea. I've even had a few of my clients that work at the park be unable to help mostly because they aren't working on the first and them as well as others have all said call guest relations and let them know what is going on, they LOVE doing special stuff for things like this......WELLLLL........either its just me and the CMs I keep getting hold of just don't care or Disney really has cut back on the pixie dust. I just keep hearing oh thats sweet, you need to contact the Disney Wedding planning department and they can give you information on the engagements packages they offer ! I must be asking wrong or something, I just ask if theres anything special that can be done that day to make it extra special for her ? I'm not talking anything outrageous but I hear all these beautiful stories on here how people have ended up in the parades, CMs doing all sorts of wonderful special things for the soon to be bride etc. and I just keep getting call the Wedding planners and spend a ton of money ?!?! I guess staying on property, buying season passes and spending a ton of money while there just isn't enough anymore..oh well I feel a little better just wanted to vent a little...happy new year all !

I'm sorry you aren't getting the pixie dust...my guess is that it IS the CM's you are talking to and/or the dusting tends to happen after the fact...

I think a lot of CM's are a little wary of doing anything wedding related (even engagement stuff) because Disney is SOOOO posessive of the Fairy Tale Weddings.

Have you tried contacting Gifts of a Lifetime? http://www.giftsofalifetime.com/

I'm not sure what they can do or how quickly something can be arranged, but it might be worth your time/money.

Good luck...and remember it will be MAGICAL no matter what Pixie Dust you get! ;)

Unfortunately pixie dust is at the discretion of each CM. You just kinda have to get lucky with whomever you speak with. Also if your just talking to a regular CM- they may not have the clout to really do anything big.

Your best bet if you don't want to pay a lot of money is to be creative and just do something on your own......perhaps a scavenger hunt? Also My DH proposed at the Blue Bayou....and they brought out a silver tray with flowers/ and a treasure chest with coins and my ring after dinner......FREE :thumbsup2 They also offered a pirate ship with the ring dangling off the mast?

If you want a Pic- see my planning Journal link below:thumbsup2 HTH

Guess I'll have to try the sneaking off to the bathroom trick and see if I can find a romantic CM LOL....
Thanks again all.
Tony :scared:

Have you thought about having a romantic dinner at the Cinderella Castle? You can make reservations and tell them what you are wanting to do. They can put the ring in a glass slipper and present it to her and you can propose that way. I know I have seen this done on tv before when they showed stuff about Disney weddings. Check it out.

I've researched all the "usual" engagement spots, but if I do at a restraunt or something where theres going to be a big production she'll kill me ! She not the most romantic and just wouldn't be into it. I'm trying to do something quieter with just us somewhere in the parks. I was just hoping to get to do some special events during the day before I pop the question, get her thinking wow could this day get any better LOL...oh well I've still got time HA, well a little time.
Tony

If she isn't into anything to public, maybe it would be best to find a place that's special in the park to both of you. Does she have a favorite ride? This is where I don't think the CM's could help much, unless you wanted to draw more attention to and your wife to be, but it sounds like she might not appreciate that, hehe Either way, I'm sure it'll be very special :)

If she's not that into being on public display I agree with PP.......do somthing on your own. The ONLY way Disney CM's might get in on it is to make a big production out of it......and that sounds like something your SO won't like......

How about proposing during Wishes!? I think that would be completely romantic but not in a big, public display kind of way.

Yup, my plan was to propose right after wishes as everyone was running to get out of the park, but of course Jan 1st they are keeping the park open until midnight so everyone sticks around so no sneaking up to the castle after most people have made their way to the front of the park....I'm thinking Tom Sawyer island somewhere, its a place we both "found" for the first time our last trip, I've been a passholder for years, but she has only been to the parks a few times mostly as a kid so no real favorite spots for her at least not yet....Yup, I'm thinking the CMs probably aren't going to be a big help anymore at this point. My best bet was 2 of my clients are working the American Idol attraction but since it isn't actually open yet the attraction will be dark on the 1st so no one is working that day so can't even get in, she loves the show and I figured to propose on the "American Idol" stage since the attraction isn't open it would be VERY few people around on our private tour LOL oh well, still working on the that but extremely unlikely...anyway, thanks everyone for the ideas ! I'll keep you all updated 1
:surfweb:

ive always like the Wishes idea...maybe in the rose garden?? find a quiet spot there down by the old swan-boat dock a little while pre-show. I hope you find a perfect idea/location...its all about whats personal to the both of you. My DH proposed at 6am on our balcony while i was still in a bath robe and no makeup lol...and it was the best proposal i could ever have imagined. The moment will be special to the both of you no matter what/where/or when!!

Have you considered a carriage ride? You can ride around either Port Orleans or Ft. Wilderness. Try calling WDW-PLAY to see what could be done. If you call the florist, they can arrange for something to be presented by the carriage driver. Check out "Create a Fairy Tale" on the website. "Sir, I've found the ladies, slipper". Very romantic and not as expensive as you might think.

I'm sorry you feel like you aren't getting anywhere with CMs. I don't really have suggestions aside from what others have said but I can sympathize with you!

I always hear about the pixie dust and people getting showered with it and here I sit thinking, "Are we going to the same parks? Where is this pixie dust I hear so much about?" :confused3 And I live in Orlando and go to the parks a lot! I see no such thing....at least it NEVER happens to us. It's rare we even encounter friendly cast members these days to be honest.

Yup, pixydusted I've thought the same, I've been in the parks a LOT since moving here and I've never even seen the "Dream Team" much less any other specials. It is sad that especially it seems the younger maybe part-timers seem to just be there doing their job and could care less about "making magic" so to speak LOL..oh well I will just have to be creative and do it myself. I've checked out the Disney florist they aren't that expensive but we are buying our season passes on day one as well so that REALLY crimps the budget tight :( oh well....I will make something happen !
Thank you everyone for your kind words.
Tony

Just a thought but since you from the area if you trust someone enough to come to your room and decorate it while you are at the park. Someone you know personally so you dont have that cost and you can purchase roses etc outside park for them to put in room. That way its just the 2 of you, secluded and quite and romantic.

Now thats an intriguing idea ! Hmmmmmm gotta think seriously about that one !
Thank you soooo much for that idea, gonna have to talk to some people about doing that for me !
:cool1:

AHHHH !! I'm getting a serious migraine ! One of my clients offered me their employee discount because I was thinking of having the glass slipper engagement packaged from the Disney Florist delivered to the room on the first so when we finally get there after proposing the glass slipper and flowers are waiting...I go online to order today and of course they are NOT ACCEPTING OR DELIVERING ORDERS ON JAN 1 !!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH come on you gotta be kidding me !This of course after I went to POFQ to check out the carriage ride package and see how early I could get it set up and they don't start until 5:30pm how do I get her to leave the parks at dinner time or worse yet fireworks time to go back to the resort ? Seriously the more things I try the worse it gets, I guess January 1st is the worse day to try and propose at Disney...grrrr
*breathe* *breathe deeeeply*
O.K. just really needed to vent....guess I look around and see what I else I can figure out that won't work LOL.
Tony :scared:

My fiance proposed at the end of Wishes in front of the train station and it was really very sweet! The CM's escorted us back into the parks and took pictures of us in front of the castle once they'd realized what had happened and we still had a pretty "private" moment. :)

I had planned on doing the post wishes engagement unfortunately the park is open until Midnight on the 1st so there will still be thousands of people wondering around after wishes...I have no idea anymore but I'll come up with something I tend to work best under pressure LOL
Tony

I know you seem to have your heart set on Dec. 31/Jan. 1 (midnight) or so, but is it possible to hold off until 1/2? If she is expecting anything, I'm sure she'll be expecting it around midnight/New Years. This would alleviate the problems you seem to be having and keep her on her toes! :goodvibes However it finally comes to pass, congratulations, good luck and please let us know how it went! :wizard:
