I am enrolling in Travel and tourism this year (2009), with a goal of becoming a trip planner (travel agent) for Disney. I have no idea where to begin. Can anyone give me any tips?

It would be greatly appreciated. :thanks:

As in "employed" by Disney or a travel agent in Canada who specializes in Disney? Disney will only hire Canadians to work at EPCOT.

Last year we spoke to alot of the cast members- if you work there, go for the experience, not for the money b/c you won't make any!! Alot of the cast members are students so they are getting credits towards their diploma. They are put up in cast housing, share rooms which is taken off their hourly wage of $5.60 :sad2: I honestly don't know how they are able to live. But they do it b/c of the experience, and for the most part love it. :lovestruc It's pretty interesting talking to them.

In my youth I actually went to a party with CMs at their housing. They lived in condos of 6 people and all had to be from a different country. It was like partying with the United Nations.

I would have jumped at that experience. I always wanted to work at Disney but I am guessing it isn't anywhere near as magical on the other side of the magic!

I would highly recommend looking into working for disney Cruiseline onboard one of there ships once you complete your diploma. It would be there experience of a lifetime. ......

are the two major complaints that DCL cm's have. I am friend's with one of the old DJ's from the Disney Wonder. He's tall too... like 6 "5!!! There is privacy or alone space either!!

As the others have said, there are two programs that Canadians have used to work at Disney. They are the college and international programs. The college program is six months long, the majority of the people doing this program are from schools in the states. The international program is a year long and brings people from around the world to work at their country's pavillion in Epcot. There is another site, WDWIP, that will give you a great deal of information about those programs. My son has only a few weeks more left in his time as a waiter at Le Cellier, and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about his time working for Disney. PM me.

DH and I went to disney casting in november to see about possibly working there. We were told for professional careers you need to look on disney's website for postilions and they do not help you get a visa to work in the US.
