Hi Kim~ Thank you! I had a great birthday, so much fun. But, 26 doesn't feel that much different then 25 :)

Thank you for saying that you are inspired by my positivity & energy. WOW! There are so many days that I feel down on myself and don't think that I'm very positive, but I'm trying really really hard not to be negative. I figure that if I'm hard on myself I'm just going to get frustrated & never reach my goals. So, I'm just taking 1 day at a time and hoping that I'll eventually get to where I want to be.

When are you going in Nov? Where are you staying? I can't wait for our trip. I'm starting to feel a little silly because Disney is all I ever talk to my DH about. I think I am starting to drive him crazy. Oh well, he knew I was obsessed with Disney when he married me 6 years ago, so he can just deal with it...

You are doing WW too right? How's it going? I've been doing pretty good. Last night I gave in and ate 2 pieces of pizza, but other then that I have been staying within 20-22 points each day. I am actually entitled 24-29 points right now, but I'm trying to be a little stricter with the amount I eat hoping that will help me lose weight a little faster. I'm not sure if that is good to do, but if anyone has any feedback I'd appreciate it.

This week has been a busy one for me...I haven't even had much time to be online reading DIS this week :( I work at a college and the spring term just started so work is a bit crazy. I also started a spanish class 2 nights a week and then just life with a newborn & trying to make it to the gym has been a little hectic. Sometimes I wonder why I try to do so much instead of just relaxing!!!:confused3

We have had 2 beautiful 70 degree days in Portland, and it is supposed to be 80 today. I'm hoping to get outside a few times today to walk during my breaks. It is so nice & HOT!!! :)

I must get back to work, but I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.
:goodvibes

ahhhh, to be 26 again. I'm only 33, but 26 seems like lifetimes ago. I also had a newborn at that time and know exactly how you feel. Work, baby, taking care of yourself, etc, etc, etc....it's craziness!! Now my kids are 8 & 5 and I swear I only blinked! Enjoy every minute!!

We are going to WDW from Nov 7th - 14th this year. We are from NJ, and did part of Jersey week last year...and it was awesome. My only complaint is the array of clothes we had to pack...since we had times of cold & hot during the trip. But hey, it's Disney...I can deal! We're not sure where we're staying yet. We're DVCers and have ressies at our home resort for now (VWL), but next week is our 7 month window where we can switch to other DVC resorts. We're shooting for a split stay between Boardwalk Villas and Old Key West. This is our first attempt at surprising the kids...and they've mentioned that the next time we go back, they'd like to stay at the Boardwalk. So I'm hoping that'll work out. :goodvibes (sorry to hijack your thread with all that info) What are your dates? Maybe we can meet up!

Yes, I'm doing WW as of this past Monday. Originally I lost weight seeing a nutritionist last year, but I needed a change in order to stick with the healthy eating lifestyle...so I went back to the WW plan (I had used that after my son was born in 2001 with much success). I'm only allotted 19 points right now, but I am definitely dipping into those flex points. :rolleyes1 As far as you eating less points...see how it goes. I'm not sure how that would work...if you'd drop the weight faster. Actually with all the working out you're doing - you're probably allowed even more than you said. You have to have something "in you" to fuel your workouts...so don't skimp too much. Especially on protein. Protein is a wonder-food that helps your metabolism to keep burning all day long, and is great fuel for workouts. :thumbsup2 Definitely stay hydrated with all that working out too!! (ok, that's enough outta me)

Take care, and keep up the great work. You are an inspiration to me, and I'm sure many others! :yay:

Hello Becky.

Hope you had a great Birthday! I noticed on the weather channel that you were warmer than Orlando yesterday! It is snowing here, and breezy. It looks more like Christmas than Easter!

Have a great day!

Wendy

Okay, here I go...

So everyone who knows me knows that I really love sports, working out, & all that stuff. But after having Hunter I was bummed that I didn't lose the baby weight by 3 months (which was my goal...kinda silly to expect to lose almost 80 pounds by 3 months, but whatever). Anyway, about a month ago I was bored & looking around online. I went to the Hydroxycut website. There was a thing that said "Be a celebrity, be a representative for Hydroxycut" So what did I do...I filled it out, sent in my current picture of my fat butt, etc. I NEVER EVER EVER thought they would contact me. Actually, I only sent it in because I was totally bored & trying to just kill time.

Well, they called today. The representative said that they thought I was a beautiful women (Aww thanks...) and said that they would like to contract me to be in their new commercials & print ads that are nationally distributed. Yikes...people get to see my before pictures!

So, in 3 weeks they are paying for me to fly to Vancouver, B.C. for my first photo shoot and to set up the intial program. I am hoping to lose about 75 pounds minimum, but I'd love to lose 90. (Don't do the math!!) For the next year they want me to spend some time traveling for various promotions, media events and represent them. They will pay for all my travel expenses, hotel, etc. and I will get paid as well. Eric (the guy who is hiring me) said that I will get $5,000 up front and throughout the course of the contract I will get paid more depending on what events I do & how much the public likes me & reacts to me...he said it could be great for me to become a "celebrity" (Yeah right, like that is what I want to become...hehe)

So anyway, I need some advice. Should I do it? Will says to "go for it" and the people I work with said to do it. I'm hesitant. Probably because I'm too proud to post for a before picture & have everyone seeing me not at my best is the main reason, but also because I'm a little nervous of all the attention too. I also know the dangers of supplements, but before getting pregnant I used them & worked out & ate really healthy and lost about 50 pounds, so I know that they can help some people.

Anyway, what do you think? Let me know :)

Becky

I am contacting a lawyer to review the contract with me because I want to make sure that everything is worded correctly & I don't get stuck in some contract that I don't want to do. And it's not something I want to do for more then I have to. I just want to keep eating healthy & working out & then take the supplements as a "boost" to help the weight loss. But, I am knowledgable about these types of products, and I'll tell everyone right now that they are not "magic" pills and will not help you lose weight if you don't work for it...Not sure if I'm supposed to say that, since I'm basically telling everyone that the pills don't work haha :)

Also, I won't have to quit my job. I love my job, so I wouldn't do it if that was jeapordized because I'm hoping to make a long-term career working in a college, so I wouldn't risk losing all that I've worked for to do a short-term job. I told them I work 8-5, Monday-Friday and they were ok with that. They said that they would try to fly me places Fridays after work & have me home by Monday morning. They said maybe an occasional day here or there, so I guess I'll just have to use personal leave on those days.

I told them that I have a baby & that I don't want to be gone long periods of time without him, so I'd either 1) have to take him with me or 2) not do it. They said that they would pay for him & a caregiver (Will??) to come with me at different locations. Since Will isn't working right now, he'd be the one to go with me.

So that's the informaton I forgot to write about a little while ago.

Wow Becky! I would have to say having a lawyer look at it is a very good idea. And, it sounds like a good opportunity for your family. It is good you are doing some checking into it. Those people make tons of money from infomercials, so they are able to spend some in their marketing.

Keep us posted!

Wendy

Yeah I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. It sounds fun & like a good opportunity, but I'm not so sure about taking the hydroxycut pills. I've done lots of research about supplements for several health/nutrition classes back when I was an exercise science major in college, so I'm just hesitant. I almost want to just say I'll take the supplements and follow my strict diet/workout and still do it for the money & traveling, but that would be lying and false advertising, so that's not right. :) We'll see though, I have taken diet pills in the past and they have worked & I've never had any problems, but you just never know...

I'll keep you all posted though. They are supposed to call me tomorrow morning with more details, so I'll update then.

Until then, have a wonderful evening.

Just thought I'd make a quick post. Plan on writing more later, when I get time on a break, but realized that I'm not doing a very good job this week of documenting food, exercise, etc.

I'm still following WW and I'm noticing the longer I am on it the easier it is to follow. I like that there is some flexibility with the diet, but really, more then being a diet, I feel like WW is a healthy way of eating and should be a lifetime goal. I really love it. Anyone else feel this way?

As for going to the gym...this week has been tough! I've been 2 times. Work has just been crazy & I can't seem to find the time right now. It is so hard when I've been at work for 10 hour days to movtivate myself to go workout & I feel guilty sometimes when I want to go because I know that my DS (5 months) needs time with his Mommy. Trying to juggle everything can be tough.

I'll write more later but wanted to say hi to everyone & hope you are having a great week. :)

Hi Becky:
It is def a one of a kind opportunity!!! There are def some pros for example
1. You will def be motivated and more accoutable for all your actions while you are a representative of Hydroxycut.
2.You will get to travel and meet new people for free!!!
but i def see more cons to this:
first of all taking supplements such as hydroxycuts are bad for you!!!! my boyfriend went to the hospital with heart palpitation from taking hydroxycut extreme. Im sure if you went to your doctor he def would recommend not taking them...Second speaking from someone that has tried every single diet pill (even prescription diet pills) out there even if you lose the weight you most likely will gain it back!!!! im not trying to discourage you at all about losing weight but like i said before it needs to be a LIFESTYLE change taking diet pills is not going to teach you permanent habits for the rest of your life. the pills will def curb your appetite and give you more energy to work out but its really an illusion because you can not consistently take hydroxycuts everyday for the rest of your life.

if you want to be held more accountable for your diet and exercise habits then i would say do the hydroxycut program but i def think WW is a million times better for what you want to do long term. it promotes healthy weight lose and not a quick fix.

well good luck with whatever you decide please dont think i am discouraging you but i def have learned my lesson from years of yo you dieting and taking diet pills once i stopped all that and watched what i ate and exercised consistently i lost 40 pounds and have kept it off for 10 yrs.

Hello Becky.

Hi Wendy~
Sorry it took me so long to respond. Last week was just crazy with work...I'm so glad that it is over :)

We did have a few days where it got really warm. One day it was 80 degrees. I loved it! I even made a comment to my DH that it felt like we were in Florida, he just laughed at me. I think that he has come to the conclusion that I'm obsessed with Disney & I'm just an idiot since I mention it to him every few minutes.:rotfl:

So far it has been a pretty boring Saturday! I wish that I was done with this semester of classes so that I wouldn't have to spend my days studying & doing homework. It is no fun!

I've decided that I'm not going to do the hydroxycut thing. It's just not for me. It sounds fun & the opportunity to travel might be kind of neat, but my family comes first & my job is really important to me and I don't want to jeapordize either.

There are also other reasons...First, I don't even take tylenol or cold medications, so why on earth would I choose to take diet pills every day. It just seems silly to me. Trust me, when I first talked to them it sounded like a really good idea since I am desperate to lose weight, but that's not the solution. Losing weight is hard work & I need to be patient and eat a healthy diet and exercise, not look for quick fixes to my problems. I also am a little scared about taking the pills. I've read things online about people having a faster beating heart, shaky hands, migranes, etc. I just don't feel like having physical symptoms that may affect me. There is always a chance I could take the pills and nothing would happen, but if something bad ever happened I would not forgive myself since I have a son and I need to be around for him.

So, I'm calling the company on Monday and telling them thank you for the opportunity but I'm going to decline. I am going to stick with my WW diet (which has been going okay) and working out.

Now, about my WW diet. I am kind of frustrated because I seriously felt like I was watching what I ate last week and ate smaller portions, healthier choices, etc. and I didn't lose a single pound. What's up with that? Has that happened to anyone before? Hmmm.....

I am hoping to stay on the right track this week and really get motivated to workout and eat right. Last week was a bit hard for me to get to the gym at night since work was a mess, but this week I've got to try to go most nights of the week.

Hope everyone has a great saturday :)

Oh, I also forgot to mention that we changed our vacation to September 22-October 6 in order to take advantage of the free dining promotion. I hope I didn't tell everyone this already...I seriously can't remember anything right now.:confused3

Anyway, we are staying at Pop Century and my mom & dad, Aunt, brother & sister are all going to be at WDW during this time as well, so it should be a lot of fun.

I've been checking out restaurants, menus and making ADR's today. Here's what our trip looks like so far...

Sunday, September 23, 2007 Crystal Palace Dinner
Monday, September 24, 200 Sci-Fi Diner
Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Coral Reef

Wednesday, October 03, 2007 Playhouse Disney @ Hollywood & Vine
Thursday, October 04, 2007 Spoodles

We have so many places to eat, but we are there for 14 days. I'm checking out menus so that I can try to make healthy selections while we are there. Any suggestions or advice on our choices?

Thank you :)

it def has happened to me!!! Stay Motivated even though you may not of lost a single pound you may be gaining muscle and that is so important...muscle burns fat! dont get discourgaed!!! start to take your body measurements... even though the scale may not move your measurements most likely are going down...im a scale fanatic as well but its not the ultimate judge of your progress...just weigh yourself only once a week at the same time that is the biggest indication of your weight loss..and take your measurements and look back at them in a week or two i guarantee you the measurement numbers will decrease b4 the scale does!

I took my measurements today...Yikes:scared1: They are now written down & posted on my fridge for all the world to see...well, just my husband, but that was not a fun thing to have to do. At least now I know where I stand & I have something to help motivate me and it'll feel great to be able to put my new measurements up on the fridge as they change :)

Haven't been doing so great at keeping track of my progress lately...I'm bad...

So far this week has been just as stressful & busy as the last week. Work is insane & I will just ecstatic when the term is over & all of the students have graduated so that my workload becomes a little less hectic.

But, on a good note...I've lot 2 more pounds. I'm sure it has something to do with my busy schedule & lack of time to sit down and eat because I really haven't had much time in the gym for the past 2 weeks.

Last night I went to water aerobics & it was the first time in over a week. I can honestly say that it felt soooo good to get a workout in. As busy & stressed as I have been lately, I realized that I need exercise to help me balance my life and to make me feel better physically & mentally.

So, tonight I hope to get to the gym again, for about an hour.

Well, gotta get back to work. That was my 5 minute break for the day :)

Have a good one!
~Becky

Great job on the 2 pounds!

I can certainly understand that you declined hydroxycut. I could see that it might not fit into a family life style. You seem to being great on WW.

Keep up the great work!
