Because there NEEDS to be a poll: Is the Magic gone?

Is the Magic gone?

  • The magic is alive and well!

  • Maybe it's gone... Or maybe it's just taking a nap.

  • The magic has just changed to a new kind of magic.

  • The magic is gone! Sob.

  • Define... "magic".

  • Other (because there's always an "other").

In response to the statement, "The magic is gone!" someone in another thread asked, "How do you know? Have you taken an exit poll?"

Which got me thinking... there should be a poll! :thumbsup2

For me, the magic is still very much alive and well. Maybe it's because of the way I tour the parks. IDK, but Disney is still special to me.

Alive & well to us too :thumbsup2 Just have to tour differently if need be, it's okay we are go with the flow kind of people, it's still better than being at work

As long as Disney has the themes to the rides and the line areas, and the costumes and just the parks in general it will be magical.

It won't loose the magic until it turns into a 6 flags with just manufactured rides and lines that are just chain and posts.

Being DVC and going frequently (and now our kids are cranky teens)...and all these changes that are still in 'testing' mode...well, I'd say that the magic is fleeting or 'here and there'. So I chose the taking a nap choice. There are moments, for us, when there is that magic that we love about WDW...but there's certainly less of those (but hopefully will pick up again in the future).

I picked "other" because the Magic is what you make it to be ... plain and simple!

:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2: I agree!

Based on my last trip, which had me weepy and pouty on our departure afternoon in Epcot because we were only there for 24 hours, even though we were there in the fall and are going back in June, I'd have to say the magic is still there!

Although, my "magic" has changed since I was a kid! I do different things at WDW than I used to, but every trip has been magical. Always will.

I voted 'other' because for me the overall magic may still be alive, but certainly not as well as it was. They are messing with my (personal experience of) the magic with this new MB/FP+ system. Pre-planning my rides and ride times in advance I did not enjoy - lack of spontaneity and rolling with changes that inevitably come for us, I did not enjoy - MDE problems with adding tickets, changing/adding guests, making/changing FP+ times and days, nope really did not enjoy that - only to be topped by the phone time to IT spent before my trips and in-line, on-site time spent at guest relations dealing with new MB & FP+ problems in the 'how much I did not enjoy that category'!

If/when they can make this system actually work for ALL guests (yes, it was wonderful on the trip where we only had minor issues and aren't all those people happy who experience that) - but on our trip in Jan where the (previously worked just fine in Nov) tickets for 2 out of 3 of us were suddenly not showing up on MBs, FP+ s had to be pulled up on the phone to show the CMs (on a gruelingly slow system) - standing in 2 separate GR lines for over an hour total only to be told that maybe I want to go stand in line at yet another GR line who could probably fix what the others couldn't (and that was at Main Street Guest Relations when the CM could not get his system to show the same info in my MDE acct that I could pull up on my phone and show him!) - well if you're one of those guests, then you are NOT enjoying yourself!

The magic of what disney actually offers in the park is still there for us. The way they have rolled out this new system with so many glitches and such poor site performance has definitely drained our enjoyment of that magic. I hope they get their act together - in the meantime I have 1 more pre-planned trip late summer, for which I have already shortened the WDW time to spend at USF instead. Then I am taking a wait and see approach and limiting my time spent at WDW until I see how it's all working out.

And I am basing my opinion on my personal experiences from trips 1/13 (marathon), 5/13(SWW), 8/13(8 day longer trip), 11/13(marathon) and 1/14 (5 day) - so I've experienced the many changes of MDE & FP+ along the way.

For our family, the magic is very much alive and well. My kids have gone to Disney 10 times (will be 11 in May) and they still love everything about it (they are 12 and 10), and as for DH and I it is truly a place that our family is the most happiest therefore we will keep going no matter what. Yes there are changes happening, just like there are changes happening in the world (actual every day world) that we all just have to "buck up" and deal with. When it comes to Disney and Magic, it is not just the parks that give us the memories but rather being together and having a great time, whether it is at a park, swimming in our resort pool, renting a pontoon boat and sailing around Seven Seas Lagoon, or just relaxing on our balcony and just soaking up the atmosphere.

We will be at Disney the last week of June. Until then, I have to vote "other". As always, I am sure will be able to find the Magic, even if it has changed. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I selected "the Magic has changed to a new kind of Magic." However, I don't know if you could still refer to it as "Magic."

I always defined Disney "Magic" as the Disney Experience. I'm a die-hard for WDW but the I'm more in love with the late 80's- late 90's version of Disney. Its kind of like my taste in music. Love the late 80's stuff.

At one point in time Disney was head and shoulders above the rest. That gap has closed considerably. In fact I think Universal is only a few years away from being on the same level as Disney. Sounds crazy but... times' a-changin.

The Disney experience simply just isn't the same. Now, for some (especially if you're new to Disney) the Magic should still be alive and well. For us vets... it a day new.

I hate to say it but i chose the "define magic" option. The world is in drastic flux right now and people are different. To me, yes the "magic" is less magical then it use to be but i am comparing it to the 70s and 80s. Those days are gone. If you did not exist at that time then you may think current times are awesome. So it is subjective as all things are... I say bring back the Fort Wilderness train, the Mark 3 monorails and the polyester monorail pilot jump suits... :duck: I so miss the thump, thump, thump, thump as they closed the monorail doors manually... Now you just get a single thump as the pilot walks up to your broken door and kicks it shut... :)

Alive and well! My family and our needs have changed a lot more than WDW.

The magic is alive and well for us, but our magic comes from being together as a family with a backdrop of our favorite place. :goodvibes

Magic is very much still alive for my family. We've never been rope drop people or commando people. We just like being together and as another poster said Disney is just a backdrop for us. Wherever we are is magical!
