So we have already established that the majority think it was alright that this 19 year old was tasered.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2460126

So what if someone runs onto the field and they are under 19. What age do you think is the lowest that somebody should be tasered for this offense? A fifteen year old, a fourteen year old?

I will play as I am one that thinks he deserved to be tazed. That said I think a young child is too young. What most people consider to be kids. Teens don't fall into that category. But, as in your example, a 14 or 15 year old KNOWS what they are doing and if they don't stop when yelled at by police, then they too should be tazed. There should be consequences for their behavior! DS is 14 tomorrow and autistic. I would feel the same way if it were him as I know he knows right from wrong.

Anyone who has not yet obviously hit puberty should not be tased.

As Opposed to saying an exact age since some 13 yr olds are full grown while some kids don't grow until they are 17 or so. If the person is *obviously* a child then do not tase unless there is violence or a weapon present. At that point all bets are off.

If a person appears fully grown then I say any age is OK to tase. If you are stupid enough to run onto a field then you deserve to be tasered. Consider it a lesson.

Nobody really said that simply running onto the field was a justifiable reason to be tasered/tased/whatever, so it depends on what the kid is doing once he/she is on the field. I really have no good answer for this and I think it depends on a lot of things.

In the circumstances in that game in Philly, I think they were justified in using a taser because he ran from the cops and nobody knew for sure what he was going to do.

How about, not doing anything to get yourself tasered.

This is the exact point I think most people missed, if he wasn't being stupid, he never would have been tased in the first place. It isn't the fault of the police.

As for how young, you can't put an "age" on this. If they are capable of understanding, STOP with the police running after them and they chose NOT to, that justifies use of a Taser I think.

Of course, the best choice is what lacrosse_lady72 said: don't do anything to get tasered. But there will always be those that do dumb things.

If it is actually for running on a baseball field, then I don't think any kid that is obviously under age should be tasered. (I realize that it would be hard for a cop to tell that a kid is 17 not 18, so the reason I said "obviously").

Is there definitive proof that a taser will not hurt a person under a certain age or size?

Taze 'em all...and then tazer their parents for good measure.

He did not get tasered because he ran onto the field, dumb, dumb got tasered because he refused to follow the directions of a Uniformed Philadelphia Policeman.

My kid at 16 was a 6ft 225 lbs wrestling at heavy weight, if he did some ******** and then refuse to follow the directions of law enforcement, I might borrow a taser.

Sorry, I'm still firmly in the he got exactly what he deserved camp. Stupidity, breaking rules and disobeying the law has consequences.

Can't do the time, don't do the crime.

14? don't know, depends on the size of the kid. 3 kids were locked up for armed robbery of some college students. ages of kids 13-15 :scared1:
Are they too young to be tased?

The kid that was Tasered was 17, not 19 per the articles I read.

And FWIW....if your stupid enough to run on the field and not stop when the cops tell you to, you deserve to get tased. Doesnt matter if you're 40, 25, 19 or 13

Since running on athletic fields and disrupting golf games seems to be the "new thing to do", why not a giant butterfly net and a straight jacket. No risk of cardiac arythmias and the "butterfly" will look like a bigger fool. Everyone gets something out of it!
