Well, I have two teenage boys. They are nice boys, but they are sister-phobic. Conseling is not working, so I am afraid that one of them is going to have to sleep with their sister in our standard DLH room. Now, I really appreciate the fact that we can have five in a room there, but they are still going to fight. The question is this, if I get a rollaway could I still fit an inflatable mattress in the room. Believe it or not they have declared they would rather sleep on the floor than with their loving sister.

You can request a room with two queen beds and day bed. boys could share the queen and sister can have the day bed.

Our room had two queens and a daybed. We were in Bonita, looking out to the pool. AND there was plenty of room for a blow up bed too if you really wanted it. I understand we had one of the good rooms... If they are not happy with that... I'd offer them the bathtub. ;)

No worries because rollaways are free. You can even get one if you have a daybed, meaning none of your kids will have to sleep together. The rooms are spacious enough to hold a rollaway even with daybed, I have done it. That is one of the things I love about the DLH! Its the only one of the three onsite hotels that has rollaways by the way. PP has nice daybeds in each room but no rollaways. GCH has the bunkbeds that are somewhat short in some rooms as well as daybeds in some rooms. But if you don't get one of those they give you a sleeping bag.

Frankly, I'd let them sleep on the floor. Going out of your way to accomodate such behavior will only prolong it. If their drama results in discomfort it may make them rethink their stance.

There are a lot folks in this world will think sleeping with their sister at their age is unacceptable. I would do the rollaway or an air matress.

I'm cracking up because this sooooooooo reminds me of my vacations as a child. I have twin brothers that are 2 years younger than me. OHHHH it was such a fight for sleeping arrangements in the hotels. None of them would sleep with me because that was gross to them and they wouldnt sleep with eachother because they said they kick in the middle of the nights. I think we always got rollaways until they were old enough to have their own room when we could afford it. OR my mom would say pick the lesser of the 2 evils and if they picked eachother then she would make them sleep with me just to be mean!!! She called it her own sweet reward. :rotfl2: I keep picturing my dad laughing quietly while we were fighting over it.

BROTHERS STINK!!!! :furious:

OK I don't feel so bad about my parenting skills anymore. Yes, they hate sleeping with each other as well. I see I didn't mention that fact. They are big boys. So I will try to get a rollaway and a day bed. I know I could make them sleep with each other. But it is vacation after all.

Hey did I mention I go to DL in only 3 short months. Huzzah !!!

You can definitely get a rollaway and a daybed, I have done it at the DLH a few times. And my kids have always hated to sleep together and for that matter so did my siblings and I when we were little! Nothing the slightest bit unusual about that. Any parent can identify!

I agree with this. There's plenty of room for a rollaway in the rooms at the DLH. I think it's a great solution. One kid in the rollaway, one kid in the daybed (which you can pull out to lay down flat - it ends up being about the size of a double bed), and one kid in a queen bed.:thumbsup2

I would suggest having the boys shower at night though, so the bathroom doesn't get so tied up in the mornings. Girls should always have priority morning bathroom time!:goodvibes

It sounds like your problems will be solved with a daybed and a rollaway or maybe 2 rollaways. Afterall it is a vacation and you want everyone to be happy :)

You can easily fit a rollaway in the room with 2 queens and the daybed. The daybed does NOT open up in any way and will only fit one person. If everyone gets a good night sleep, they will be happier so as soon as you get into your room, call housekeeping to ask for the rollaway (and the coffee machine!) I have also been asking for a table too lately and they bring me a room service table with table cloth and runner and since it is on wheels, we can move it in front of the tv for the kids to eat breakfast and then the rest of the time, we put it at the bottom of the rollaway in front of the window. Some rooms come with a desk and a round table but not all, so just ask for what you want and need.

I am not sure if you could get 2 rollaways but we always get one and it fits nicely along the sliding door area pushed all the way up against the wall. You can still open the sliders but don't let them stand on the rollaway that close to the opening!! Some rooms have a chair there and we just put it next to the door and it comes in handy to sit and put shoes their shoes on. In some hotels, we begged for 2 rollaways with a nice fat tip in our hand and most of the time, they did bring one even though it was against the "fire rules". (PP and GC do not have rollaways at all-not enough room!)

Another thing we often use is a fold up camping cot. We bought it at kmart for about $12-15 and it comes in handy not just for hotels but also if the kids have friends spending the night at our home. Many hotels are now charging up to $25 for a rollaway so we really get our use out of this. Maybe you could pick one up for the 3rd child and each of you can have your own bed! Housekeeping will bring you as many pillows and blankets that you want. (Here is a pic of a similar one but ours fold up into a very small packet like an umbrella with a case:http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/View_Catalog_Page.asp?mi=6701

I have a 7 year old girl and an 11 year old boy, no way do they want to sleep together! Both want the daybed so this has been our solution, to get the daybed and the rollaway and they each have their own perfect spots.

Oops, I think Fidoprincess is right.

The daybeds at the Paradise Pier lay down flat. I think at the DLH, we just removed the back cushions on the daybed, and it was about the size of a twin.....I think.....we stayed there about 3 years ago, so my memory has faded a bit.:goodvibes
