We were at Disneyworld last week at Epcot and each time we walked by the place in Canada that sold Beavertails, they were closed. I was SO disappointed - during the dark days of my diet I would dream about the chocolate and hazelnut beavertail I was going to have at Epcot.
Anyone know if they are open again or if they will be opening again?
Thanks.

Oh, I will be posting my food report soon.

During our trip in August, we ran into the same thing. We were told that the stand doesn't open until after 4:00.

I wanted a chocolate hazelnut beavertail too!

hmmm I'm pretty sure I was there after 4 some of the time because I want one while waiting for Illuminations. I should have asked too.

A beavertail is deep fried dough, with a texture similar to that of a yeast donut.
However the beavertail is flat and can be customized with fruit sauces, chocolate or hazelnut, just plain sugar, or a combination of cinnamon/sugar. it all depends on your individual tastes.
some other names for this pastry delight are: elephant ears, funnel cake (although beavertail is one large piece, not folded over lines of fried dough)

bon appetit
:teeth: :teeth: :wave2:

I remember over the last few summers it was open until the start of RoE. Will be there in 10 days and this is a must at least 2 times a trip!!

Wouldn't you think what with the F&WF they would be open every day? Not only have I yet to have one because they're always closed, but another DISer had told me that during the F&WF they serve a great beer which DH wanted to try, Guess we'll have to wait till next year and hope.

I was talking to a Canadian Pavilion CM and he said that they have been having problems with some of the equipment and that it is hit and miss when it will be open. Also he said that they will be closing the Beavertail stand permanently in a few months.

I don't know how true this is, but that is what I was told.

Ok........note to self. I have yet to try one, but water at the mouth thinking about the Hazlenut one. I better get one this time, or I may never! We are never hungry when we are around them.

I'll have to make sure to save room at least one day.

Beaver tails are not Funnel cakes or Elephant ears.

Funnel Cakes... made from a baking soda/baking powder batter. Very similar to pancake batter.

Elephant ears..... There are 2 types I'm aware of. One is made from phillo dough, the other out of yeast dough, similar to roll dough.

Beaver tails would be closest to the yeast dough elephant ears, but beaver tails are made from whole wheat dough.

We ran into the same problem last July. Must have walked past the stand twenty times and every time it was closed. ::MickeyMo
