Has anyone gone to see B&TB on Broadway? If so, what were your thoughts? Where is the best place to purchase tickets?

TIA

I took my daughter a couple years ago. I absolutely LOVED it--I would see it again in a heartbeat! Don't think for a second that it's a kiddie show, either (although there will be plenty in the audience). It was just fantastic. I purchased tickets on-line a few months in advance, and scored second row seats. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I loved the music so much, I got the soundtrack, too!

A friend who couldn't make the show gave us tickets about 5 or 4 yrs ago. I still think it was the best broadway show I've ever seen and I've seen a few of them too!

We ended up buying tickets to see it again shortly after because we were amazed by it!

Wellll.....Yes, the show itself is absolutely incredible....But I've heard quite a few...um..."less-than-sterling" reviews for the current Belle (Christy Ramano(sp?)). My advice (assuming you're really dying to see Disney on Broadway): catch Aida before it bows this fall.....Adam Pascal (the original Radames) is returning for the duration of the show's run, and he'd be worth the price of admission by himself.

Still, BaTB is an incredible show by itself, even if Christy is below standard.

I saw Beauty & the Beast several years ago when it was playing in Toronto and it was fabulous!!! I went with my oldest son's high school class. He was 15 at the time and the group of boys were disappointed that they had to see Beauty because Phantom of the Opera was done. After they saw the play, they were all raving about it!!! :D

But obviously I can't comment on the actors who are starring in it now.

We saw B&B last year and it was AWESOME! So much so, we will be seeing it again when we go back in a couple weeks. We had very good luck buying tickets at the 1/2 price ticket sellers right there in Times Square.. I think the locals call it "The Board" or something like that. It's just a booth but if your walking around down there you will find it.

Yes, we just saw it in April. It was wonderful! The girl who plays Kim Possible is now playing Belle.

I always get my Broadway tickets from ticketmaster or tickettron.

just go to disneyonbroadway.com and follow the links....

Beauty and the Beast is one of those shows that always seems to be available at the TKTS booth in times square (50% off broadway tickets). If you don't mind taking what they have as far as seats go (we've always gotten decent but not outstanding seats) you might want to give that a try!

Yep, that's her. I have to say that's about the firs positive thing I've seen written about her performance, but as I haven't seen her in the role I can't really offer anything....

Also, the "board" that beezle was referring to is the "TKTS Booth" in times square, and she's right, you can't miss it (just look for the realllllly long line :) Great deals, but bring plenty of patience...

Thanks for the reviews and advice. I think we are pretty set on the show because it is a surprise for DMIL's retirement (shhh, it's a secret). Her daughters (my SIL) and I will be taking her to NYC to see the show, so we want advance tickets and we are looking at trying to get decent seats, so we are thinking that we would be paying at least $100 a seat.

For those who have seen it in NYC, where do you park and any thoughts on where to go to eat before the show? Also how far in advance do they open the doors? I know when we saw The Lion King in London the doors only opened about an hour before the show began.

Thanks again!

You still don't need to pay full price. There are a fair number of discount codes out there for beauty and the beast, so you should check those out! I don't think they have a different "pool" of tickets so you'd still get best available seats, it's just like using a coupon code.

I think at ticketmaster you can use the code "LD" for $57.50 tickets for tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays (evening performances) and $65 for Friday and Sat at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm! I just got that from www.playbill.com. You need to "join" their "club" but it's free to join and they have lots of offers on tons of shows!

I promise I won't tell!!!!

How nice of you! I'm sure she'll love it!
Hey don't tell her, but we took up a collection in the class to get her a nice retirement gift. SHHHH!!

DH and I saw it in NYC a few years ago. It was great. We were able to park at his job and then cab it to the theater.

Have a great time!

We saw it in April. We loved it. The kids were thrilled to see the girl from Kim Possible in it. I really can't compare her to any other Belles.

The stated ticket price was about $100, but I'm not sure what DH paid. I think a business associate of his in NYC got them for us.

I don't know anything about parking...we stayed in a hotel, and walked there.

As far as eating, we were with the kids, so we weren't looking for anything "classy". We had eaten at "Ellen's Stardust Diner" http://www.ellensstardustdiner.com/ the night before, and the kids wanted to go back. It was fun. (Waitstaff are budding performers who sing.) Also, because of kids, we ate one night at Mars 2112...a themed restaurant that could take some lessons from Disney, but still was fun. http://www.mars2112.com/

(Just re-read this, and realized I didn't help you much at all!)

Have fun! Visiting NYC and Broadway are just great experiences.

Nikki, I won't tell either....that is so nice that they are going to give her a retirement gift! After 25+ years I think it will be hard for her to fully let go of the kids, I know she is looking forward to retirement, but I bet after a little bit of time she will miss them all....she loves kids!

Ellen's Stardust looks neat, I think MIL would love that. How far is it from the theater?

ellen's s on 51st and Broadway, across the street form Mars 2112. B&TB is at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, 205 West 46th St. it's a very short walk.

oh, and in NY, theater doors usually open 1/2 hour before curtain time. and with few exceptions, the curtain usually doens't go up until 10 minutes after the stated start time.

B&TB was the first show I took my dd's to see. they've loved the theater ever since.
