Is the Beauty and the Beast DVD back in the vault?

I went to watch mine today and it's so badly scratched up (darn that DD) that it won't play.

I just tried looking it up on Amazon and there are only used ones to buy from people.

I think I'm going to get my favorite Disney movies off the DVD shelf and hide them from my kids. Then if they want to see one, they have to ask me so I can put it in the player. :rolleyes1

Beauty and the Beast is back in the vault. I can't remember when it is supposed to come out again. Best bet us to buy used.

Thanks.

Now I just have to decide if I can stand waiting until 2010 so I can get a DVD with all the new features or get a used one.

You use to be able to register all your DVDs with Disney so that if something happens to them you can replace it for either a small fee or for free - I forget which - youdo have to send themthe messed up one first before they will replace it. I had my Lion King replace. I can't find the website though........

i want to know when it comes out. This is the only Disney movie my DD hasn't seen yet.

I think from what I've read the release date should be in late October 2010. I love this movie and cannot wait until it's re-released. DD is excited too!!

I do wish Disney would let some of the old movies go back to the theater. I would pay to take my kids to see some of the movies I loved as a child.

This is why I dislike dvds. We have Disney VHS tapes dating back to the original Jungle Book and Little Mermaid releases in the late '80s and early '90s that have been watched over and over and over and still work perfectly. DVDs always seem to end up scratched. (right now our dvd player is broken so we're only watching the vhs anyway)

Do BluRays scratch as easily as DVDs?

they say no... but if you get a digital copy, you can burn a copy, or ifyou want, you could research on how to make a copy of a DVD for your viewing pleasure.. of course, that is hypothetically..:rolleyes1

Disney has a replacement program for scratched DVDs. You might be able to replace yours even if it is back in the vault. We were able to replace our Cinderella after it had been vaulted. Here is the info:

How do I replace a damaged DVD?
If you accidentally damage or break one of your Disney DVDs, you can get a replacement disc for a nominal charge of $6.95.

Please mail in your damaged DVD (along with DVD case and full packaging), a Check or Money order for $6.95 (made payable to WDHE), along with your Contact Information (Name, Address, and Phone Number) to:

Replacement Program
PO Box 3100
Neenah, WI 54957-3100.

You have to send all discs back in the case, and they have to have the same one in stock. You can call them first and give them the stock number before you ship it back.

I think I read, here on the dis, that Beauty and the Beast was going to be in the theater in Feb 2010 and then re-released (from the vault) in Oct 2010.

I'm sure Disney thinks they are pretty slick;), but this whole vault thing drive me nuts!! My DS3 loves Cinderella right now and when I asked at the Disney Store about it they said it was just out a couple years ago so probably wont be back for another 5 or 6 yrs. At which point I'm quite sure he will not be interested! So we went to ebay. But i'm not a fan of the vault...

Beauty and the Beast will be in theatres February 12 with 3D features! The re release is supposed to be shortly after the movie leaves theaters. We bought a copy on Amazon a few months back since I didn't want to wait.

I'm so confused... can someone explain why you should wait for it to be "released from the vault" vs. just buying it off of amazon?

Amazon doesn't have it in stock. You can buy it from their sellers. New it cost about $50 or you can buy it used for less. Of course if you look on E-bay, you can find it new, unopened for about $20.

they slap new extras in it and charge a premium..

All I know is they better have a $10 off coupon again.

and the vault thing is just marketing to make a frenzy to purchase.. I mean, how many of us have monsters inc and look at the shortages they had just because we get a combo deal with UP?
