Beautiful rocket launch

There is a shuttle launch planned for June (the exact date hasn't been released). We are really hoping it is on June 22, since we are scheduled to leave on June 23 and we already have a hotel in Cocoa Beach.

We sail out of San Diego next month. It might be a bit hard to see from here. Many years ago we raced across Florida to see a launch, but, sadly, it was delayed for a day, the day we had to leave...missed it. Lucky you folks got to see one.

Shuttle launch? I believe you mean something else, as there hasn't been a shuttle launch since July of 2011.

As for June launches, NASA has only two scheduled:

Targeted Date: June 12, 2019
Mission: Orion Ascent Abort-2 Test
Description: This full-stress test of the Orion spacecraft's Launch Abort System will launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. A critical milestone for human missions to the Moon, this test of the Orion spacecraft's Launch Abort System will show that it can carry a crew to safety in case of an emergency during launch.

Date: June (no specific date set)
Mission: SpaceX Commercial Crew In-Flight Abort Test
Description: To prepare the Crew Dragon spacecraft for transportation missions to the International Space Station, SpaceX will carry out an in-flight abort test to provide higher fidelity data and reduce risk to future crews.

Sorry I misspoke... there is something launching from the Space Coast in June and I hope to see it.

Thank you. It does look like if the rocket/thing launches on June 27, it is during our Day at Sea on our way back to PC. I am hoping we can see it/something from the ship, because that would be super cool.

I remember back in March 2009, we had returned from WDW, eaten and just put the kids to bed when all of a sudden, the house we were renting shook and there was a loud bang. I ran into my son's room, sure I was going to see a mac truck smashed into his wall and bed. Nothing. I went outside and all the neighbours were out, wondering what was going on (I guess we were all renters). Back on the TV screen, there was a note that the shuttle had just landed at Canaveral. What we'd experienced was the sonic boom from the shuttle. It was amazing.

And since I'm telling un-requested space stories, I remember back in the early 70s, we were visiting my grandparents in Miami. We watched an Apollo liftoff on TV, but then ran out of the house to watch it sail through the sky, upward. That was something to see that I'll never forget.

There is one scheduled for our off day from the parks in December. Any advice on a good place to watch if that works out?
