Just made a quick dash out to the General Store and on my way back I saw 3 deer on my left (opposite side of the lake) just getting ready to cross the road.. I stopped - so they could cross over to the lake side and when I looked over there I saw 6 deer already down at the lake, drinking the water!! It was a beautiful site to see..:lovestruc

I'm thinking that's the same group that I can see from my side window here - around about the same time every day - coming up from the lake and crossing over my road to go up further into the woods up on the mountain..:goodvibes

Of course I didn't have my camera with me..:( If I did, I wouldn't have seen a darn thing.. LOL..

Enjoy the deer! Hunting season is here in my neck of the woods so we aren't seeing many right now. Although I did see a few huge moose driving home yesterday.

See, we have so many deer that they are basically a nuisance animal, much like a larger version of a rat, or a skunk, and about as welcome. The local ones also do not feel people - or cars, lawnmowers, etc.

I love to see deer. In our neighborhood we see them frequently. It was all woods here not too terribly long ago. They still come around and one of our neighbors has them trained to come and eat out of his hand. They are so beautiful.

Deer are way overpopulated here too.

I like to see them when I'm at home, where they often come within 50 feet of our house.

I hate to see them on the road. All I can think of is, "DON'T run into the road and hit my car!!"

The deer aren't as bad as the moose. You have a fighting chance against a deer. In my little Subaru, the family joke is that I will total the car and bruise the moose!

Rats with hooves... I helped control the population last Thursday by shooting a buck :)

Well, I'd prefer to not hit either a deer or a moose!

Oh, yeah, and something else not so "beautiful" . . .

Deer-splatter carcasses with chunks of flesh, bone, and fur strewn all over the highway . . . :crazy2:

Yum, whats for dinner honey? answer: Road kill.

Well since I'm in the mountains, I would say that "we" have invaded their territory - not the other way around.. So I guess that makes "us" the nuisance.. Good thing they don't carry guns or know how to drive..;)

Sorry - I think they're a beautiful sight - as is all of the wildlife up here..:thumbsup2

I love watching deer in the wilds, we are just outside the city limits and get them occasionally in our back yard. In the spring the mama's bring their babies looking for food. Every now and then a buck comes thru..I just stand there and watch them in awe..they are so beautiful!

I'm with you C. Ann. I think they're a beautiful sight, too. We have lots of deer here and I never tire of seeing them in the woods, but I do get afraid of them darting out into traffic at times. Where I work is very suburban and it really makes my day when I look out my window to see some deer grazing off in the distance.:thumbsup2

I'm a avid hunter, but don' hold it against me.But there is a catch-22 about deer.We have deforested there territory to the point that they will come into subdivisiouns cause lack of food.I love seeing them in the wild. But if you google it,more deer are killed out of starvatioun and getting ran over then what hunters take.

There has gotta be control or they will die.Worst yet,a widespread disease of the animal. It happend here in Fl back in the 70's.

I think they are too! But being a city dweller where I am makes you appreciate the wilderness and wildlife.

Don't you love moments like that in life? :goodvibes

We have a lot of deer at our property up north, and just a few feet behind where the camper sits is a large oak tree and the deer just love the acorns that fall on the ground. I watched them come up to eat many mornings and evenings this summer. I was able to get some nice pictures too. And something spooked a couple of them one day and they ran up right beside the big side windows of our camper so I was able to get some really close pictures of them then. :)

I love watching deer in the wild, too. :goodvibes

There is a herd at our cottage in the winter that walks across the ice to walk across the yard.

When we were at Disney a few weeks ago, we saw a bunch driving around and my kids acted like they had never seen any deer before. I guess the deer at Disney are extra magical.

Heck - I'm still waiting to get a good look (and hopefully a photo) of the bears up here!! :thumbsup2

Would I invite one in for dinner? No.. But I'm in their territory - which make me the nuisance - right? :goodvibes

You're right C.Ann. We have invaded their territory, so it makes us the nuisance. Although there are those who believe we have more of a "right" to be somewhere than the deer do.

I've heard the hunters up here already - and worse yet, late at night - blinding the deer with bright lights..:( Not legal, but they do it anyhow.. I would call the authorities, but they're located soooooo far away from here by the time they arrived the hunters would be gone..:sad2:

Every time I see a deer up here, I just want to scream at the top of my lungs - "Run, Bambi, run"!!!!!
