My dd will be 16 on Friday she asked for beats they are a real budget buster...gosh I bought the cheap ones and they were $200.00!!!! Needless to say that is all she is getting!!!!

Headphones...they are by Dr. Dre??? whatever the heck that that means.....she is really into her music...plays the guitar and piano and I guess she wants them for that??!!!

I have those, they are wonderful. Yes, expensive. I normally don't get Christmas gifts, and this was mine last year. My kids broke my old headphones, so DH got me these and warned the kids and threatened them with the death penalty if they break these.

Oh, ok! I feel so old :( lol But if their by Dr. Dre then they must be good!!

Don't feel old, I had no clue what they were either when I opened up the thread, and I didn't remember the name of mine until the OP explained it. I refuse to admit that I am old.

My DD16 wants a pair of these, too, and no one's been willing to buy them for her yet, including me. :P

I looked at some of these on Amazon and found that quite a number of people were saying that they were overpriced for the quality and that there were many, less expensive alternatives that were better. I listened to some at Best Buy and found them to be average in sound quality. I ended up with these http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-XB500-Diaphragm-Driver-Headphones/dp/B001RB24S2/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top and have been very happy.

You're paying for the name with the Beats headphones. If it's what DD wants, it's what she wants, but I bet she only wants them for the name. There are many alternatives out there that produce equal or better sound quality for a lot less money.

My understanding of a budget buster is something you did not budget money for and have no choice but to buy - an emergency. If you choose to buy the headphones and did not budget for them, it is not the headphones that busted your budget.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU KEEP YOUR RECEIPT AND THE BOX THE HEADPHONES COME IN!!! My son got a pair for his birthday last February. We bought them from Best Buy - which has a 30 day return policy. The headphones worked until about day 35. Of course, we couldn't take them back to Best Buy, so we were forced to work with the company that made the head phones. They replaced the defective pair, but we had to show proof that we actually bought them. We had to send in a copy of the receipt, and the UPC code from the original box. They sent out an identical pair, and we were so glad that we hadn't thrown the box or receipt away.
