At the parks this week July 28 - Aug 2 in a heat wave and wanted to share our tips on how we are staying cool.

1.Rope Drop - we get there when the park opens and try to be out by noon.

2. Afternoon break - with real feel temps topping 110 degrees in the park this week spending the hottest part of the day 1pm -5pm at the hotel in the A/C and pool

3. Using a Sun Umbrella, personal fan and cooling towel to help keep us cool while in the parks

4. Refillable water bottle - be sure to search for where to refill water bottles, not every water fountain has one but the ones that do tend to have cold water.

5. Ice Water at QS restaurants - cups of ice water are free at QS locations

6. Planning shopping and indoor attractions to cool off in the heat.

7. If you can afford it LL allows inside quicker and less standing outside in the heat. We have made great use this week of LL

8. Taking care of our feet, your more prone to blisters when feet overheat which is easy to do when walking on hot pavement in your shoes.

Love to hear others suggestions we have not employed as we still have two more park days this week.

We have never been in the current insane heat, but we have gone a few times in August. It seems like you are making all the right moves! Rope dropping and afternoon breaks are the biggest ways we stay cool, but umbrellas, water, and cooling towels are key too. Here are a few tips to consider:
--Wet and freeze the cooling towels. That way they are ice cold when you pull them out!
--Moleskin and blister bandages in my backpack (you could Instacart them from a local pharmacy)
--Second pair of socks and an extra T-shirt in the backpack.
--Spray fans. The kind that mist you. Do these in addition to the personal neck fans.
--DON'T avoid the skyliner. While it's not air-conditioned, you do get a really nice, comfortable breeze as you fly through the air!

Here are some things NOT to do in the heat:
--Decide that you want to walk from the TTC to the Poly to GF to MK because it seems like a nice walk
--Forget that you have an umbrella in your bag and get flagged by security (ALWAYS hold it out in front of you or you will get flagged every single time!!)
