Beating the Heat at Lunch

We are visiting tomorrow and Tuesday, and the heat looks like it will be brutal! I'd like someplace air conditioned for lunch, but we have a group of picky eaters.

Is the Pizza Port indoors/air conditioned, and could those not wanting pizza "bring in" food from Tomorrowland Terrace and eat with the rest of the group inside?

Same question for RBT. Can we bring in food from the Stage Door and join the rest of the group eating inside at RBT?

I think as long as some of your party buys food in the restaurant, it's not a problem for others to bring in food and sit with you. On our last trip, everyone wanted to eat at Village Haus, except for my oldest who is picky and wanted chicken nuggets from Stage Door. He and I bought the nuggets and the CM even gave us a paper bag for "take out." We met my DH and younger son at Village Haus where they already had food and a table.

Pizza Port has a fairly large indoor seating area, but it gets noisy. We have found that the outdoor area is so well shaded and blocked off from the sun, that it's still a nice, cool place to eat. River Belle's indoor seating area is kind of small. We rarely end up finding a place to sit inside unless we go there at off times.

Our go-to lunch spot for escaping the midday heat is Plaza Inn. They have ample in-door AC seating plus are centrally located so that if one or two of your party must get take out from another locale, they can bring it there easily. It is very near the corn dog cart, Coke Corner, and Tomorrowland Terrace (which is loud, noisy and hot - don't eat there on warm day).

FYI - Since you mentioned Stage Door in your post I don't know if you are aware but Stage Door will be closed 8/28 and 8/29. So tomorrow is your only chance to get food from SD.

Yes, you are allowed to bring in food from Tomorrowland Terrace to Pizza Port. In fact, I just did that last month! Both my friend & I purchased our food at TT then walked over to the "outside" area of Pizza Port to eat.

It was incredibly hot (in the 90s) when I went too, and the "outside" area of Pizza Port is great because it is shady but doesn't give you an "enclosed" feeling like eating indoors at Pizza Port. :)

If you ever need to escape the heat or a rest, I highly reccomend dropping by Innoventions, right next door to Pizza Port. I know a lot of people seem to dislike Innoventions, but I personally liked it because it is a huge, air-conditioned building that has fun interactive video games and displays. The best part about Innventions is how you can walk through a high-tech "dream house"... if you ever do that, stop by the kitchen of the "dream house", there's a dining table you can sit at and there's a TV playing movies in there too. :) All with air conditioning!

Good to know -- thanks!

I would love to go to the Plaza Inn, but that would require we purchase food at 3 different venues in order to meet everyone's needs! I'd like to keep it to just 2 places, if possible.

Thanks for all the tips!

Stage Door may be closed but the same food is available inside the Golden Horsehoe, and you can take your food "out" from them as well. Or you can sit in the GH and eat, it is also air conditioned and there are tables available both upstairs and down.

We ended up eating inside the RBT, with some food brought in from the Stage Door. We had no trouble getting tables big enough to seat all 9 people in our party, and sitting inside was a nice break from the sun.

On Day 2 (today), we ate at Whitewater Snacks because we were checking out of GCH and it seemed a convenient place to have lunch. Today's heat was BRUTAL, whereas yesterday was hot but bearable.
