Bear Rug

Since my last thread turned into this, I decided to start a fun, good natured little debate about the bear rug. I have done some thinking about my last thread, and decided it was stupid of me to close my last thread. But, that just wasn't the intention I had when I made that thread.

So here goes, I think it is wrong. It is telling kids that shooting a bear, for the sole purpose of making it something to stand on, is right. And it is most certinly not. Shooting animals, for fun, or to make them rugs, I think, is wrong. And I know. It is virtual, but the impression of how that bear became a rug is there. Ok, it may be fake, faux, or a stuffed animal, but that, only Yavn can detirmine.

Ok I am going to have to say something here Tink number one you did not want a debate thread and you go and start the exact same thread you had me close over again. I know I said someone could start it again if they wanted to but not as a real debate, a thread poking fun. You are not poking fun here you are starting another debate thread.

You are not going to like this but a virtual bear rug in a virtual game in no way says it is ok to go out and shoot bears for the sole purpose of making them into rugs no more than the snake winding it way up the tree in vmk says temptation is the root of all evil.

I agree that hunting just for the sake of hunting or trophy is wrong in REAL life but this is a game.

It is not real, no more than the stuffed animials on my DS bed.

Start a fun debate thread? Try prolonging the already millions of debates since yesterday! It gets kind of old after a while. I'm glad Tink that you at least stated why you vote BOOT. Everyone on VMK who voted BOOT would just make fun of me and never gave me much backup for their choice!

Hey I don't have any bear stew but I do offer a pretty tastey "Are-You-Taken-Gumbo" just look at my bubbling cauldron in most of my rooms- when someone comes into my rooms and asks if anyone is taken- I toss them into the cauldron (boot) lol...

As far as the rug thing goes- I'm from an area where hunting is a very common sport and a "rite of passage" for many families. And like I have mentioned before my rule has always been if you kill it you have to eat it...

But in all honesty that bear rug looks way more like the bearicus teddious species (more commonly known as the Teddy Bear) than any other real life species of bear around.

Perhaps there would have been less resistance if the bear came in a variety of colors- they could just sell the brown ones. They could have pink and blue at WDW and DLR in park quest prizes. And the ultra rare green/cyan bear could be given as a random virtual prize for some staff game (a'la candy cauldron and inferno). Then everyone and their cousin would want not just one bear but 4 and people would be offering inferno or green flips for the rare variety... lol

You know I don't think VMK expected the harshness of some with the arguements- I think they thought it would be fairly obvious that most would want the bear so it would slide into being on sale- and a few people would campaign against it "just for fun" but really it has gotten out of hand in some circumstances especially when you consider other items currently available in vmk that no one has ever complained about- I know I have human skeletons all over my rooms and I did mention my pot of gumbo above- and I have never heard anyone protesting that...
