Bean Counters and shortsightedness

Two examples of "nickel and dimming" come immediately to mind. Fast Pass becomes paid Genie. Parking now costs extra when it used to be part of the hotel rental. All the while prices increase much faster than the inflation rate.

Customers aren't stupid - they know when they're being gouged.

And, if I may readdress a continuing complaint that I have, it seems movies and TV have bottomless budgets to pi$$ away on movies that no one wants to go see.
Parking is now free at WDW hotels.

Only after a LOT of complaints. Maybe the "brains" who run the organization will also figure out how stupid the Genie move was, too.
The Genie isn't being put back in the bottle, unfortunately. Once they saw how big of a money maker it was (Chapek noted in 2022 that 50% of guests buy the service), they're doubling down and not going back to being free.

Plus it acts as an increase in the availability for attractions during the day. Less people using it than in the past, more availability.

Where in the free FP+ era a lot was gone by 60 days out and then even more was gone by 30. And everyone got a piece of whatever.

And what is a "Chapek?" Didn't he get fired?

It still is gouging the customer. Period.

from the consumers point no wait would be best, but there is a business component that can't be ignored

I don't know, it seemed to work ok for decades and this new approach doesn't seem to be working at all so there may be something to the guest satisfaction of running a higher capacity during a lower attendance time

Disney used to charge per ride, and at a premium for better rides. The point is, things change over time. Everything becomes more expensive, it can’t be that every time Disney raises prices it’s Nickel and dimming, it’s getting a little old to keep hearing it on the boards.
Disney offers the least expensive line skipping tool on the market, but because it isn’t free any longer people get up in arms. I would challenge everyone to tell me something that hasn’t gone up in price over the years. You’ll be hard pressed to find it, and most have probably out paced inflation since everyone seems to be all over that as well

this is exactly what I’m talking about. “Disney is charging us too much” Disney then addresses the issue. Still not happy. The only way they could win is to start paying people for parking at their hotels in this case

People are still banging down the doors to go to Disney parks. People on these boards don’t speak for the vast majority of Disney goers. Welcome to the 1%

Meanwhile, DIS' stock price is @ 9 yr lows. Something ain't being done right. Or is it that investors and customers are just too stupid to know better?
